In pairs, read the sentences below. You must decide if each sentence is a need
or a want.
For example:
Q: Tom is spending the night in the rain, he would like somewhere to sleep but
can’t find anywhere to go. Is this a need or a want?
A: This is a need.

2. Martin has been at working hard all day. He had no lunch and there is no

3. All of the boys in 5th class have got a new play station game. Andrew tells
his parents that all of his friends have got it and that he has to get it. Is

4. Simon lives a long way from his school. His parents will not drive him
there and he cannot walk there. He does not want to miss out on school.
