1. BENNETT VALLEY WOMEN S GOLF CLUB
SPRING-SUMMER 2013 NEWSLETTER
Your illustrious Board just met, and maybe it s just me because I m getting ready to go
on vacation, but there really didn t seem like too much happened that I need to pass on.
Well . . . except for this . . . there have been THREE ladies so far this year who just
decided one shot is enough. Nancy Kennedy, Marie Richter and Charlene Buchold have
all had a hole in one! Way to go, golfers! (I happened to be golfing with two of those
ladies on their special days, so if you d like me in your foursome, just ask!) Maureen
Rabellino also had a hole in one recently at Mare Island. You go girl, too!
With the nice weather we ve been having, the number of members showing up on any
given Thursday morning is growing. Let s keep that trend going. The earliest tee time for the ladies club
will be moving to 7:45 (from 8:00), and that will most likely be happening in July, for those of you who
want to get off the course before it gets so VERY hot (that would be me).
The next PW playday will be June 24 at Aetna Springs in Pope Valley. Look for sign up information for
both PW and North Bay playdays on the bulletin board.
Reecy reported that Bennett Valley s team for PWGA Team Play is: Nancy Kennedy, Cheri Brannon, Rita
Gallo and Reecy. Qualifying is July 15 at Eagle Vines . . . we ll be cheering for you, ladies!
We have two new members since the last newsletter: Ellen Breisacher, 2343 Providence Ct., Santa Rosa.
Phone: 292-2413, and Marti Wilmes, 4833 Burlington St., Santa Rosa, Phone: 799-5960. Hi!
As mentioned in the last newsletter, Nancy Kennedy will be taking over Handicap responsibilities from Pat
and Barbara, which left an opening for secretary. Rita Gallo has stepped up and graciously volunteered to
take over those duties. Thank you, Rita!
I m sure everyone has been reading in the Press Democrat about the problems at Bennett Valley Golf
Course. The Board would like to show our support of Bob, so Marie will be sending a letter on behalf of the
Women s Golf Club to Parks & Rec and/or the City Council. Everyone is encouraged to send emails or
letters to councilmembers, the newspaper, and anyone else who will listen.

2. This year July 4th
will be falling on a golfing Thursday. Because it s a holiday, if you decide to play on that
day you will have to pay holiday rates $38 walking, $52 riding. BUT, as an incentive to get anyone who s
in town out here to play, Judy Jones is inviting everyone over to her house afterwards for a barbecue
(potluck)! Sounds like fun, right?! There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board so if you don t have
other holiday plans, play a little golf and then share some food with your friends. (Ellie says she s bringing
champagne!) Judy s address: 853 Wikiup Drive, Santa Rosa.
As always, if you aren t and would like to receive this via email, please email me at murphybs@sonic.net.
Have a Great Golfing Summer!
