Kendis
The Nexus Framework
Implements scrum at scale to roughly 3-9 scrum
teams that work together in a common development
environment to deliver a single integrated product.

Nexus Team has 1-2 Members
from each scrum team that are
responsible for planning the
vision and the bigger picture of
the overall product

Nexus Integration Team keeps
the team technically integrated.
Members of this team are not
fixed. These team members may
include coaches and trainers
which ensure smooth integration
and following of the cadence of
the work done by the scrum
teams.

Before planning begins, the
Nexus Product Backlog is refined
The Nexus Team plans the bigger
picture and discuss any
impediments that can be faced.
Outcomes from this are utilized
by the scrum teams for their
planning.

The Scrum Teams sit together
and plan for the sprint.

How Planning
is Done in
Nexus?
The Scrum Teams pick out the
items from the refined Nexus
Product Backlog which can have
stories, tasks, business initiatives
or epics.
Each Scrum Team adds these
selected items to its own Sprint
Backlog.

own sprint backlog, The Nexus
Sprint Backlog is formed that has
all the team's selected product
backlog items to enhance
visibility in the work being done
At the end of the sprint planning
there is a Nexus Sprint Goal that
aligns with the product goal and
describes the purpose that will
be achieved by the Nexus during
the sprint

Execution
1 Sprints last from 2-4 weeks.
Nexus Daily Scrum is done when
each member from the scrum
team meets with the Nexus
Team. All scrum teams have
their respective scrums with the
Nexus Team.

Retrospective
Activities
A Nexus Sprint Review is held at
the end of the sprint in which all
the scrum teams meet with the
Product Owner and review the
integrated increment. Scrum
teams do not have their own
sprint reviews. There is only one
collective sprint review in which
the integrated increment is the
subject.

2 There is a Nexus Sprint
Retrospective which is a
collective retrospective of the
solution that has been built and
any points of improvement are
discussed with the entire nexus
and the scrum teams. The Nexus
Team and the scrum teams can
have their individual
retrospectives.

What is the Nexus framework?

  • 2. Implements scrum at scale to roughly 3-9 scrum teams that work together in a common development environment to deliver a single integrated product.
  • 3. Participants of the Framework Scrum Teams Scrum Master Product Owner 1 2 3 Nexus Team has 1-2 Members from each scrum team that are responsible for planning the vision and the bigger picture of the overall product 4
  • 4. Nexus Integration Team keeps the team technically integrated. Members of this team are not fixed. These team members may include coaches and trainers which ensure smooth integration and following of the cadence of the work done by the scrum teams. 5
  • 5. Before planning begins, the Nexus Product Backlog is refined The Nexus Team plans the bigger picture and discuss any impediments that can be faced. Outcomes from this are utilized by the scrum teams for their planning. 1 2 The Scrum Teams sit together and plan for the sprint. 3 How Planning is Done in Nexus?
  • 6. The Scrum Teams pick out the items from the refined Nexus Product Backlog which can have stories, tasks, business initiatives or epics. Each Scrum Team adds these selected items to its own Sprint Backlog. 4 5
  • 7. 6 While each team maintains its own sprint backlog, The Nexus Sprint Backlog is formed that has all the team's selected product backlog items to enhance visibility in the work being done At the end of the sprint planning there is a Nexus Sprint Goal that aligns with the product goal and describes the purpose that will be achieved by the Nexus during the sprint 7
  • 8. Execution 1 Sprints last from 2-4 weeks. Nexus Daily Scrum is done when each member from the scrum team meets with the Nexus Team. All scrum teams have their respective scrums with the Nexus Team. 2
  • 9. Retrospective Activities A Nexus Sprint Review is held at the end of the sprint in which all the scrum teams meet with the Product Owner and review the integrated increment. Scrum teams do not have their own sprint reviews. There is only one collective sprint review in which the integrated increment is the subject. 1
  • 10. 2 There is a Nexus Sprint Retrospective which is a collective retrospective of the solution that has been built and any points of improvement are discussed with the entire nexus and the scrum teams. The Nexus Team and the scrum teams can have their individual retrospectives.
