Presesntaion given Fri 18th March 2010 at Ewood Park Blackburn at Local by Social a FutureGov event on Transparency and Engagement.
*Winning idea* to solve the problem:
3. People we’d like to help… Those who are not familiar with the internet, and do not see it as relevant to their world. People who read the magazine People at risk of ‘being left behind’
4.
5.
6. The web can help… A paper that is delivered by the community through web outreach… Map the pilot online community. Connect with community hubs in partnership with pilot council (facebook groups, GPs, pubs, leaders, reference groups, reading clubs, mum and baby groups…) Get these hubs to agree to Print10(or 20… or 50…) and distribute – issue freely available and promoted online for anyone else who wishes to print
7. We can do more…. But wait! We can do more… Lets create a better, social version of the traditional magazine, and get more people online while we’re at it! Hybrid of Content, include local tweets, facebookdiscussions, Flickr photo of the week… Encourage readers to get involved in the conversations. Develop some web intrigue – something relevant to the reader in a familiar form. Also more appealing to those who wouldn’t usually read a localgov based publication Include local web training sessions for those who want to learn how join the conversation online
10. So, what next? Conversations with interested Local Authorities Connecting with newspaperclub.com and the Race Online campaign Begin to scope the Print10 pilot
