SOLID LIQUID GAS
SOLID LIQUID GAS
SOLIDS
BOOK WATER OXYGEN
STONE PETROL CARBON
DESK OIL HELIUM
•Solid has a definite shape and has
definite volume
•Molecules are closely spaced so it is so
Rigid
•The intermolecular attraction is very
strong
•It has no shape, assumes the shape of the
part of the container which it occupies
•Not easily compresrible
•Little free space between particles
•Flow easily
•It has no shape, assume the shape and volume of its
container
•Particules can move part one another.
•Comprescrible
•Flows easily
Solid -> Liquid – Energy Increases
Liquid -> solid – Energy Decreases
Liquid -> Gas – Energy increases
greatly
•Surface tension is a contractive tendency of the
surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an
external force.
•Surface tension is an important property that
markedly Influence the ecosystem.
•Surface tension preventing is a paper
clip from submerging.
•An object or insect that is denser than
water is able to float along water
surface.
•The surface tension is responsible for the shape of
liquid droplet.
•The droplet of water tend to be pulled into
spherical shape by cohesive forces of surface layer.
