2. Introduction
Kimbra (Lee Johnson) was born on the 27th March 1990
and was born and grew up in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Her career started taking off when she was quite young
and ever since then it had been building up to now.
Kimbra has been on The Billboard Charts and worked
with a lot of different popular bands and artists. One of
many things that she is known for is working with
Gotye for the song "Somebody That I Used to Know"
which went top ten of the billboard charts which was a
great accomplishment.
3. Her father, Ken Johnson, was the head doctor at the
University of Waikato's student health centre and her
mother was a nurse.
Kimbra attended Hillcrest High School. The older she
got the more she was rising as a musician. Kimbra was a
member of the Hillcrest High School jazz choir and her
teacher was Sue Radford. Kimbra competed in the
national school competition Rockquest for three years
running. She was finally awarded second place in 2004
when she was fourteen years old.
When Kimbra was ten she had started writing songs,
when she was twelve years old, her father bought her
very own guitar. After a few years of learning the guitar,
she was on stage, performing with her guitar tutor.
Though Kimbra was never taught to sing.
4. Kimbra is a singer, songwriter and a
Musician. She plays guitar vocals and
tambourine. She has been famous from
2000 - present. Her labels include Forum 5
and Warner Bros records. Her associated
acts are with with Miami Horror, Gotye,
As Tall As Lions and Mark Foster. Her

personality and her voice.
5. Time line
Her first music video was "Smile" for the T.V show What Now
Kimbra started singing at the Waikato Times Gold Cup race meeting in 2000
She sang the national anthem at the age of twelve in front of 27,000 people at the
Auckland vs Waikato NPC rugby final
Kimbra won top prize in the international song writing competition
Kimbra also won the Juice T.V award
Kimbra's first debut album was "Vows" which reached the top 5 in
New Zealand and Australia.
Kimbra and Goyte's video/song for 'Somebody That l Use to Know' went viral
with 121 million views
Kimbra and Goyte's track went to the top 10 of the billboards
