3. (1) To show both sides of God.
• Romans 11:20-21 Well; because of unbelief
they were broken off, and you stand by faith.
Be not arrogant, but fear: For if God spared
not the natural branches, take heed lest he
also not spare you.
• Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the
goodness and severity of God: on them
who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness,
if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you
also shall be cut off.

Severity
• Matthew 11:22-23 But I say unto you, It shall
be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the
day of judgment, than for you. And you,
Capernaum, which is exalted unto heaven,
shall be brought down to hades: for if the
mighty works, which have been done in you,
had been done in Sodom, it would have
remained until this day.

Romans 2:8-11
• But unto them that are contentious, and do
not obey the truth, but obey
unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul
of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and
also of the Greek;.

Romans 2:10-11
• But glory, honor, and peace, to every man
that works good, to the Jew first, and also
to the Greek: For there is no respect of
persons with God

• Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no
condemnation to them who are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.
• Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus has made me free from the
law of sin and death.

he made alive together with him, having

• Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is
not shortened, that it cannot save; neither
his ear dull, that it cannot hear:
• Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have
separated between you and your God,
and your sins have hid his face from you,
that he will not hear.

GOD
• 1 John 3:8 He that commits sin is of the
devil; for the devil sins from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was
manifested, that he might destroy the
works of the devil.
11. How to please God?
• You must be born again
• John 1:13 Who were born, not of blood, nor
of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man,
but of God.
• Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh
cannot please God.
• Not a fleshly birth! But spiritual

• John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God.
• John 3:4 Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man
be born when he is old? can he enter the second time
into his mother's womb, and be born?
• John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Except a man be born of water and of the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
13. Spirit and Baptism
• 1 Corinthians 12:131 Corinthians 12:13 For in one Spirit
were we allwe all baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or
free; and were all made to drink of one
Spirit.
14. How to please God?
Baptism
• 1 Peter 3:20 that aforetime were disobedient,
when the longsuffering of God waited in the
days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing,
wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved
through water:
• 1 Peter 3:21 which also after a true likeness
doth now save you, baptism, not the putting
away of the filth of the flesh, but the
interrogation of a good conscience toward
God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

• Acts 22:16 And now why do you tarry?
arise, and be baptized, and wash away
your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
• At baptism sins are remitted or forgiven.
