I plan to explain these findings and where these numbers came from specificallyArticle from the Huffington Post- As a country we are down across the board in every statistical category-Received scores around 500 on a scale that goes up to 1000, 487 in math, 500 in reading, 502 in science-According to The Education Secretary Arne Duncan “This is a wakeup call for America, we have to get much more serious about investing in education”Education and the future of TechnologyI also plan to show this video we watched in class about how our world is changing Highlighting a few points-The US is 19th in internet Penetration -The number of text messages sent and received everyday exceeds the number of people on the planet-The top ten jobs in the US didn’t exist in 2004
This is a link to a chart explaining how much the united states spends on education along with our scores in math science and reading and how this isn’t helping our overall performance
Hudson Falls Central School DistrictUsed a system to combine all the students work and allowed them to access everything from home. Did so with Citrix SystemsByron School DistrictUsed Wyse Technology for long term support eliminating many problems and issues teachers and students had been having in the pastLittle Chute School DistrictInstalled “zero clients” to trim refresh costs, and save energy.
-Training sessions need to be done before school starts, during the school year, and after the school year-Trained professionals need to come in and show our whole faculty how to use certain technologies -Teachers will have checkups done by the administration to see how they are using the technologies available to them-Teachers will meet together once a month to discuss how they have used the technology and what they have found useful and effective-Teachers and administration will have the opportunity to go to other school districts and observe how they are using technology
-Teachers need to believe in the standards set by the administration -Rewarding students for using new technologies and finding new areas to improve-Still need to checkup on teachers and make sure they are using more and more technology available to them
