44. I thought I caught a glimpse of you
from the corner of my eye.
I turned around and called your name
hoping you were coming by…
But, Jan, my boy, the world’s not real.
I’m betrayed by a despondent dream.
It’s tracking me…. by day… by day…
It’s your life, I can’t redeem.
I know I’ve lost you from this earth
And I weep for your face, your smile,
But, still, I search for you anyway…
by inch, by yard, by mile.
Each second I breathe, you fill my thoughts.
I cannot set you apart.
You embraced my soul when you were small.
You charmed me from your heart.
I love you, Jan, sweet son of mine
and this pain’s so hard to bear.
I pray the angels take care of you,
at least….‘till I get there.
