2. Reflection on three
songs.
Believe – Justin Bieber
The song believe by Justin Bieber is all
about believing in yourself and your
dreams. Justin uses his own experience
throughout the song, the lyrics he sings
representing this are “ I knew it wouldn‟t be
easy, but your faith in me was so clear, it
didn‟t matter how many times I got knocked
on floor, but you knew one day I would be
standing tall, just look at me now.” Justin is
telling his story through the lyrics as he
went through a lot to make his dream come
true. Throughout the song he is saying if his
fans and followers didn‟t have faith in him,
he would have never believed in himself to
make his dream come true as it has now.
The song is an inspiration to believe in
yourself no matter what your going through,
to always push for your dreams, just as
Justin did.
I don't know how I
got here
I knew it wouldn't
be easy
But your faith in me
was so clear
It didn't matter how
many times I got
knocked on the
floor
But you knew one
day I would be
standing tall
Just look at me now
Cause everything
starts from
something
But something
would be nothing
Nothing if your
heart didn't dream
with me
Where would I be, if
3. Reflection on three songs.
Climb by Miley Cyrus
Climb by Miley Cyrus is a emotional
song that represents all the struggles
Miley is going through. In the song
Miley sings, “There's always gonna be
another mountain, i'm always gonna
wanna make it move, always gonna be
an uphill battle, somebody's gonna
have to lose, ain't about how fast I get
there, ain't about what's waitin' on the
other side, It's the climb.” Throughout
the song and especially in this lyric
chorus Miley is preaching that there will
always be struggles but you should
never give up on your dream and
always fight for what you want. The
song encourages everyone to have
faith in their dreams and gives hope to
all her listeners to believe in themselves
4. Reflection on three
songs.
Pray – Justin Bieber
The song Pray by Justin Bieber is about the
less fortunate people in this world. He sings
about how there is tragedy all over the news,
children crying, soldiers dying,
homelessness and kids everywhere are
starving. Justin shares his strength in the
song, and faith in the world to get better. The
lyrics “But I know there‟s sunshine beyond
the rain, I know there‟s good times behind
the pain,” meaning that Justin gives hope
and faith to the people struggling in the
world. The song is to promote that there are
people out there in our world with problems
and tragedies that
need to be fixed. The lyrics “Hey, can you tell
me how I can make a change?” represent
I just can't sleep tonight.
Knowing that things ain't
right.
It's in the papers, it's on the
TV, it's everywhere that I go.
Children are crying.
Soldiers are dying.
Some people don't have a
home.
But I know there's sunshine
beyond that rain
I know there's good times
behind that pain
Hey, can you tell me how I
can make a change?
I lose my appetite
Knowing kids starve tonight.
Am I a sinner 'cause half my
dinner is still there on my
plate?
Ooh, I got a vision to make
a difference.
And it's starting today.
I close my eyes and I can
see a better day
6. Reflection on The Pursuit of
Happyness Review
The film „Pursuit of Happiness‟ the main character Chris Garder takes the
audience through his life changing journey. Through the thick and thin he
never gives up on hope. Chris sends the message to always get back up
when you‟ve been knocked down. Even though Chris goes through

relationship issues and having financial problems, Chris still sets himself
goals and fights for success.
Chris believed in himself and worked hard to eventually get the dream job

money for his family. However it wasn‟t easy for Chris to get to his goal. He

him but throughout the struggles he had to keep motivated, to keep trying
and to never give up because he knew he had to keep believing in himself
so he could look after his son and keep his son happy.

purpose. He knew if he wanted to succeed he had to have a purpose and a

pushed himself using his son as a reason to never, ever give up on his
7. Modern piece of
writing
'I have a dream that one
day this nation will rise up
and live out the true
meaning of its creed: "We
hold these truths to be
self-evident, that all men
are created equal."
'I have a dream that one
day on the red hills of
Georgia, the sons of
former slaves and the
sons of former slave
owners will be able to sit
down together at the table
of brotherhood.
'I have a dream that one
day even the state of
Mississippi, a state
sweltering with the heat of
injustice, sweltering with
the heat of oppression,
will be transformed into an
oasis of freedom and
justice.
'I have a dream that my
four little children will one
day live in a nation where
they will not be judged by
the colour of their skin but
by the content of their
character.
'I have a dream today!'

8. Role model
My role model is Dell McDonald, my grandma. She was
born on 13th of June 1933 in Casino NSW. She was raised
in Mount Collery, Queensland and had 4 sisters and 1
brother. She has experienced many things throughout her
life and has overcome some of the hardest situations a
human can go through, such as recently the death of her
husband; my grandad, growing up in the „Great
Depression‟ and has overcame 2 tumours in her brain.
She‟s one of the strongest women I know to this day. She
inspires me to never give up on my dreams and always
have faith in myself and others. She gives me advice to
overcome my problems and supports me no matter what
decisions I make. She always puts others before herself
and respects everyone no matter what their story. She is
the most caring and respectful person I know and will
always be here for me. I‟ve learnt from her that you should
always think of others and be kind to everyone, also to
always believe in your dreams and to never give up.
Dell McDonald, is my role model.

14. A Parable of Jesus
Luke 15
New International Version
(NIV)
The Parable of the Lost
Sheep
15 Now the tax
collectors and sinners were
all gathering around to hear
Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees
and the teachers of the law
muttered, “This man
welcomes sinners and eats
with them.”
3 Then Jesus told them this
parable: 4 “Suppose one of
you has a hundred sheep
and loses one of them.
Doesn‟t he leave the
ninety-nine in the open
country and go after the
lost sheep until he finds
it? 5 And when he finds it,
he joyfully puts it on his
shoulders 6 and goes
home. Then he calls his
friends and neighbors
together and says, „Rejoice
with me; I have found my
lost sheep.‟ 7 I tell you that
in the same way there will
be more rejoicing in
heaven over one sinner
who repents than over
ninety-nine righteous
persons who do not need
The Lost Sheep
The Parable of The Lost Sheep says,
“Suppose one of you has a hundred
sheep and loses one of them. Doesn‟t he
leave the ninety-nine in the open country
and go after the lost sheep until he finds
it?” This spiritually is referring to us
human beings as the sheep and that God
is happier when someone returns to him
after losing faith. That when a person
comes back from not believing or
questioning their beliefs, he is happier for
them to come back to him and not be
stray. God knows that the rest of us
humans who do not question our faith
and are sure on God will not stray so he
is will not worry about us, he will worry
about the people that stray away from

Sacred Buddhist Text
‘The Other Side’
One day a young
Buddhist on his journey
home, came to the
banks of a wide river.
Staring hopelessly at
the great obstacle in
front of him, he
pondered for hours on
just how to cross such a
wide barrier. Just as he
was about to give up his
pursuit to continue his
journey he saw a great
teacher on the other
side of the river. The
young Buddhist yells
over to the teacher, "Oh
wise one, can you tell
me how to get to the
other side of this river"?
The teacher ponders for
a moment looks up and
down the river and yells
back, "My son, you are
on the other side".
The sacred text „The Other Side is a
Buddhist story about a young Buddhist
on his journey home. He story
expresses the young Buddhist
pondering for hours on how to cross the
river to get to the other side. They boy
asks for the answer to his problem from
someone on the other side, the teacher
replies, “My son, you are on the other
side.” The message to this sacred
Buddhist story is that there are two
ways to look at our problems, a
negative and a positive way. The story
represents that not always our
problems are as bad as we see them
and that we have to look for the positive
in our struggles to overcome them. The
story gives hope and faith to encourage
