ACTIVITY 1


Write   a     two - paragraph   essay .   Contrast     your      life   in     the    past


and your life now . In the first paragraph , describe how your


life   used    to   be   at   some   time   in   the    past .     In    the     second


paragraph , describe your life today .




When I was a child I used to play with my buddies in Quito because I


am Quiteño, after when I grew up a little I used to go parties with all


my friends we all used to spend together. I had very kindly moments; I


used to walk around the city’s churches, and I dreamt to study in EPN, I


studied in Montufar High School; my partners and I did not use to study


a lot but we used to often run away.


Today I don’t spend time with my friends because they are in Quito and

Now I am in Cuenca, those times when I only had fun finished,


nowadays I work and study a lot for being an English teacher, I have a

son too, he’s my everything and I do my best for him, actually I did not


remember a lot my friends although they were important part of my life.




ACTIVITY 2


Read     the      following     situations .     For   each    one ,     write      a     note


making one or more requests . The first note is an example :




2.         You      work   at   a   restaurant    on   Mondays,       Wednesdays,          and


     Fridays. You have to go to the dentist, but he or she can only see


     you on Wednesday. Write a note to a co-worker.




          Hi buddy,

          I really need to go to the dentist my teeth are hurting me. Would you
          mind telling this to the boss?
