Q - Does Error-Free Performance (EFP) Work?
A - Error-Free Performance has been hugely successful in reducing the costly results of
human errors. We have all heard that “mistakes will happen”. Through understand
and practice of EFP tools and methods, this statement is changed to “mistakes will
happen and we are prepared to minimize the consequences”.

Q – Why have I not heard of Error-Free Performance?
A – EFP has been used and refined since 1999, predominantly in very high risk
industries such as petro-chemical & nuclear power. After realizing tremendous
business advantages, introduction to other business functions starting in 2005.
Sustainable financial gains have been realized by these groups through the
minimizing of human errors and consequences.

Q - How is EFP different from continual improvement or other process improvement
methods?
A - EFP is not separate from other efforts, it is seamlessly included as part of these
efforts and into the fabric of day-to-day business.

Q – What makes EFP different?
A – Continual improvement programs such as Lean and Six sigma focus on improving
business processes with little or no spotlight on minimizing the consequence of human
mistakes or designing HP “defenses” into processes. Experience has shown that
eliminating Error-Traps within processes, coupled with employee awareness, is more
positive and sustainable than any process improvement effort.

Q – Is there value in using some parts of EFP, but not others?
A – Absolutely. The overall EFP “suite” is designed to be used both individually and
collectively. The only requirement is that the client-value of each component must be
measurable and sustainable.
