Brown Eyes video
I think that this experiment, while harsh, was a very realistic portrayal about
how minorities are treated every day. It really made me think about how not used
to harsh, unfair treatment the majority of people are. The instructor immediately
started using demeaning behavior towards a girl by using any sort of stereotype to
she could think of. At first it came across as pretty mean, but then you realize that
racist teachers probably aren’t any better, and that most people of a different race
have it the same way all the time.
The part where she got up and left showed how easy a lot of majorities have
it. Most of them get favored due to being the stereotypical American, and are
uncomfortable when sent to the other side. I do think she should have stayed rather
than left, though, because that did feel insulting to the people who go through that
every day, and I don’t think she really learned anything from it.
