June 2013 –
Product Development Highlights
Investors Group completed nine fund mergers and ten objective
changes. Among the most significant mergers, Investors Real
Return Bond ($290 million in assets under management) was
merged into Investors Canadian Bond. Also, 10 corporate-class
funds now have the flexibility to invest primarily in units of
other Investors Group Funds.
The future of trailer fees was the focus of a panel discussion
organized by the Ontario Securities Commission this month.
The 12 member panel, including representatives from trade
groups, fund companies, financial advisors and consumer
advocates, were assembled to address issues arising from the
release of a CSA discussion paper that focused on embedded
compensation this past December. The issues discussed included
the role of embedded commissions in providing access to
advice for small investors, the services received in return for
trailing commissions and whether regulatory initiatives beyond
improved disclosure is warranted at this time.

The future of trailer fees was the focus of a panel discussion organized by the Ontario Securities Commission this month.
