1. The Church of St. Benedict 2011 C.A.T. Survey The "gages" shown on this slide represent the eight major performance characteristics of the Church. They reflect the cumulative scores from up to six or seven specific questions in the survey that pertain to that aspect of our Church's worship and ministry activity, and then those scores are rated on a percentile basis against all of the other Churches in the database, which currently stands at over 400. Each gage is measuring from 0 on the left (negative) to 100 on the right (positive), and shows two readings: A green pointer which indicates the scores for that segment in our last "C.A.T." survey in 2007, and an orange pointer showing the result from this year's survey. This chart is a great visual to show how well we are functioning in every area. It also clearly shows the very positive changes that have occurred in our Church since 2007, in every single category that is measured! 2. The Church of St. Benedict 2011 C.A.T. Survey Adaptable Church Style Today 2007 Conservative Progressive This “map” is referred to as a Descriptive Indices chart. It reflects the answers from eight different survey questions and attempts to describe two attributes: Our Church’s theological perspective and our openness to change in the way we conduct our various ministries. There is probably no good or bad place to be on these scales; they simply help describe a Church’s style identity. Ours is an interesting placement however. On one hand, this shows us to be leaning towards a more conservative theology in scripture and Church tradition (especially since the 2007 survey), and yet it ranks us as very adaptable to adjustments in the way we conduct our ministry; that we are flexible and not tied to a particular style. Very unique! Settled
3. The Church of St. Benedict 2011 C.A.T. Survey High Energy Energy / Satisfaction Map Today High Satisfaction Low Satisfaction This “map” is called the Energy-Satisfaction chart, and that’s exactly what it attempts to show. Ten questions in the survey relate to those aspects directly: those which drive our feeling of satisfaction in our Church’s clergy, leadership, worship and ministry, and those which fuel our energy and excitement about the present and the future. It is remarkable for how high we score in both of these measurements. It reflects a significant shift from where we were in 2007, and places us among the most positive and healthy Churches in the U.S. today; very satisfied with who we are and where we are going. Our placement here defines us as a ‘Transformational” Church. In this category, the thought is that Churches are functioning at a very positive level, with the potential to transform people and be a source for new meaning and purpose in their lives. Exactly what a Church should do! 2007 Turnaround Churches Transformational Churches Transitional Churches Low Energy
