aspects when you begin your search.

to travel abroad for your internship.

Things to do to make a lasting impression during the interview
• Do your homework (Make sure you research everything you can about the company that you are
interviewing for)
• Dress for Success
• Shake hands with the person that you are interviewing
• Maintain eye contact
• Smile
• Have questions ready (Remember that you are interviewing the company as well. This is to ensure it
is the right fit for you!)
• Thank them for their time after the interview
• Send a follow up e-mail or card, thanking them again for their time and that you look
forward to hearing from them soon.

What can you do to get ready for your first day?
1. Make sure to read through all the information about the business (Code of Conduct and
the background information)
2. Make sure that you read about the work you will be doing entails.
3. Ask questions about anything that you are unsure about to make sure that before
your first day you now exactly what to expect
5. First Day…
Here are some tips to get you through the first day! Remember the employer
is just as nervous as you are! They want to make sure they made the right
decision to hire you!

6. Duration of Internship
Make sure to ALWAYS be on-time
Ask as many questions as you can
Take advantage of participating in as many opportunities that you can to gain more
experience

Go above and beyond what is expected of you
Put in extra hours
Volunteer to take on extra projects
Ask for feedback about how you are doing and ways to improve
7. Receiving Feedback (positive and negative)
Receiving feed back is the most important aspect in learning. Without
feedback you will never know what you are doing right or even wrong.
Positive Feedback is great to receive because you know what you are
doing right and can continue to do it and can also improve on them.
Negative Feedback is the hardest feedback to receive but in the long
run it will help you be a better person and employee.
8. Receiving Negative Feedback….

Keep an open mind (The feedback is to help you learn)
Listen carefully
Ask Questions on ways to improve
Request a meeting for training to help you improve
Implement what you have been told/ taught

9. Last Day of Internship
The last day is here, Make sure to leave a lasting impression!
You never know they could be your future Co-workers
Thank everyone in the company individually for taking the time to
help you with all the questions you asked, help you gain experience,
and for the positive and negative feedback
Send Thank You Notes a couple days after the internship has ended to
again thank them for everything that they did for you over the coarse
of the internship!
(This will allow you to continue to stand out even after the internship has ended)
