2. It has been a month since iPhone 5’s release date, and the new model proved to be a commercial success
despite the widely criticized Maps service. In fact, in the first 24 hours after it was launched, over two
million orders had been received. Many of the features on the new model were mentioned in the iPhone 5
rumours that circulated weeks before launch date, and many consumers were happy that the product
actually met their expectations. While most of iPhone 5’s improvements are incremental and not
revolutionary, it does have new features that make it significantly better than older models.
Taller screen, higher aspect ratio
A first in the smart phone’s history, the iPhone 5 now
has a four-inch screen, but it is taller, not wider. It can
be remembered that older models had 3-inch screens
that had 3:2 aspect ratio, which was really not ideal for
watching movies because you will see black bars across
the two edges or have a portion of the picture cut off.
Facetime over cellular
Facetime, which is the iPhone’s built-in video calling
service, previously only worked between Apple devices
and used Wi-Fi only. On the iPhone 5, you can already
make Facetime calls over your wireless carrier’s cellular
network as long as you are on a plan that supports it.

3. Connect via LTE
LTE, a new wireless communication technology, was widely covered in iPhone 5 concept write-ups. Just
to give you an idea of how fast LTE is, it can reach speeds of up to 20 megabits per second. That is faster
than what most people can get at home with their cable or DSL services. It is also substantially faster than
older wireless networks. With the LTE support, iPhone 5 users can have connections that are more
reliable, as well as enjoy a tremendous boost in speed whenever they do data dependent tasks.
