In 1962, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of John F. Kennedy, started 'Camp Shriver' on her farm in
Maryland. This turned into what we know today as the Special Olympics. Shriver also did a lot of
other work to benefit the lives of many people with intellectual disabilities. But before all of that,
she was born in 1921 and grew up in Brooklyn, Massachusetts along side her eight brothers and
sisters. She went on to attend college at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California where she
received a Bachelor of Arts degree. One of Eurices' sisters, Rosemary, was born with a mild mental

began doing research and more doctors were trained to work with them. 1962 is when Camp Shriver
began and spread across the country, eventually evolving into the Special Olympics. Shriver also did
a lot of work in social justice. During that time she ran a juvenile agency, worked inside a prison to
learn more about prisoners, and worked with people who were released from prison, even inviting
some of them to live in her home. She then moved to Chicago and worked in the Chicago Juvenile
Court. Up until her death on August 11h, 2009 at the age of 88, Eurice continued to work with
individuals with intellectual disabilities and was still on the Board of Directors for the Special

In this song Sound of Silence the author/writer of this song went through many tough times in his
life to make this a popular hit. Their first recording of the album which was released and finished
early Wednesday morning. They soon realized it wasn't a big hit and there band split up and went
their separate directions. Soon after many months without the knowledge of Garfunkel and Simon,
Columbia Records stepped in and modified their song and added many new instruments like guitar,
bass, drums to make it more interesting and popular. This new version then was released in
September 1965 to the public which it was a major sellout. It was originally called "Sounds of
Silence" but after their next release they changed the title to just "Sound of Silence". The title of this
song showed itself to be an oxymoron and that it's a figure of speech. As there are no sounds when
there is silence. What it is trying to say is that when you are ignored all you are surrounded with is
silence. The creators of the song worked a tremendous amount to put this song together and finally
made it a successful hit in the past.
The song "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel is a very catchy song because of the
rhyming and also has many of the poem language and diction already in it which makes it a very

Throughout the book, Rosen analyzes specific traits of judges– such as political parties and
appointment reason and so on. Rosen uses direct quotes from the judges to identify how judges have
to lean away from certain beliefs and lean towards other beliefs for the sake of keeping the country
free and under control. In each section, Rosen compares two justices and obviously favors one over
the other. But, as the author, he does recognize the flaws in his view, and the pros in the opposite

He has been around this path many times before and maybe even too much as the curious souls
began to wonder why a boy of such a noble status would wander in the deep forest of black rock.

at Rockland County Mental Asylum in the 60's: "When we started to misbehave, they would tie us

Dos Passos first attended school in the District of Colombia. As he grew up, he spent some of his
childhood in Tidewater Virginia. He began attending Choate School where his first published
writings were articles for the Choate School News. Upon completing Choate School at the age of
fifteen, he entered Harvard University in 1912. At Harvard, he continued his journalism by joining
the Harvard Monthly. While at Harvard, he developed a close, long–lasting friendship with E.E.
Cummings. During this time at Harvard, the spirit of idealism swept the country. Dos Passos was
stirred by ideas of idealism and began to write short autobiographical tales for the Harvard Monthly,

During his tour of duty as an ambulance driver, he collaborated with a friend, Robert Hillyer, on
