Portfolio of landscape architecture projects, including residential, green infrastructure, and public space designs. Specialties include planting design, construction detailing and documentation, and sustainable landscape design.
3. Scioto River Overlook
This lower slope beneath an earlier pool construction was left as an unsightly
embankment, so steep it was impossible to maintain. The owner’s requested the
space be transformed into “a beautiful bumper appropriate to the Cadillac of the
pool installation.” Natural boulder walls were used to create flatter planting beds
of erosion resistant native plants, and a pocket seat area from which the owners
could enjoy the view of the river and lower bonfire lawn.

6. A Castle on a Hill
The owners of this limestone cottage in Arlington wanted a wide and welcoming landing at their front door that would help ground the house on their highly sloped corner lot.
Tiered low beds help create a sense of solidly stable foundation while the interspersed plantings soften the hard edges of the natural stone walls and walks.
7. Upper Arlington Residence
Here the owner requested a viewing garden from their studio/work-
from-home window. The area caught water from the neighboring
property, and was also the primary outdoor space for the couple’s
dogs. The low stacked retaining walls create a backdrop of low-main-
tenance garden beds that catch both the eye and the water from the
upper slope. The lawn panels double as play area and drainage facili-
ties for the dogs. A raked gravel pathway also provides drainage.
8. Burris Residence, 2008
The goal of this project was to set the house within the landscape using extensive mixed plantings, which would provide
continuous color throughout the year. New plantings were to blend with larger existing woody plants the client wished to keep.
Award Winner: 2011 ONLA Merit Award for Residential Planting Design
9. Robison Residence, 2004
This plan features a unique dry stream solution to an intractable drainage situation in the rear yard. The overflow was tied into
the existing drainage system along the road frontage. The clients were long-time gardeners, so plant selection had to be precise.
10. Mannava Residence, 2010
Knowing that they wanted a rooftop garden, this client had their home designed with a master suite terrace walkout, and three
levels of flat roof. We added low-maintenance, extensively planted green roof modules with interspaced pavers so that the clients
could add patio furniture, and enjoy evening cocktails overlooking their property. Final touches of a copper railing, ipe decking
and washed gravel await the home builder’s final phase of construction.
12. Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio - 2013
In 2013, the Ohio Veterans Home sought a master landscape plan to update its entire 400+ acre facility in Sandusky, Ohio. This
included a complete tree inventory, rebuilding a 10 acre retention pond into a park amenity with walking paths, fountains and
picnic areas, entrance and courtyard renovations for all residential facilities, and a master greenway plan.
13. Women’s Health Center, Upper Arlington, OH - 2017
The civil engineer for this site plan was committed to providing sustainable infrastructure elements to satisfy both the owner and
the City of Upper Arlington Planning Department. Permeable paving, rainbasin construction in parking islands, and special root
protection zones for street trees were all incorporated into the final plan.
17. Rhodes Park
In 1999, the City of Columbus had no facility
for wheelchair basketball enthusiasts, who
were forced to share court space with
skateboarders on OSU’s campus. The city decided to create a facility that would accommodate not just basketball, but softball,
baseball and football as well. Built adjacent to a new ADA accessible playground, the facilities at Rhodes Park created a unique
destination for the city’s wheelchair-bound athletes.
Award Winner: 2000 OPRA Facilities Award
18. Antrim Park Deck
Tasked with creating a public gathering space at a crossroads on the Olentangy bike trail, I designed an ADA accessible deck at
the edge of Antrim Lake that would serve as a fishing dock, resting area for walkers and cyclists, and an overlook for the lake.
19. Indianola Park
This park was developed in an underserved neighborhood south
of The Ohio State University campus. The city of Columbus had
acquired a block of abandoned lots in order to convert it to
much needed green space. Development involved a series of
community forums to gauge needs and wants in the
community, resulting in a “village green” style design that
included a traditional playground, bench seating and picnic
tables, and multi-directional connecting paths.
20. Walnut View Park
The development of this neighborhood involved a set-aside of
natural wetlands that would serve a double purpose for the
community. The low portion of the wetlands would serve as part of
the drainage system for the area, while the upland portions would
be developed into active recreation space, including a loop running
path, half court basketball, picnic pavilion and playground space.
Adjacent neighboring homeowners had direct input into the park
development design process.
