This document provides a portfolio of works by Michael Shannon including professional, academic, and student projects. It includes senior design studio projects featuring conceptual designs for public spaces in Washington D.C. and Chicago. It also contains hand renderings and perspective images for recreation center and park projects in Lafayette, Indiana. A variety of representation techniques are displayed including 3D modeling, photorealistic rendering, hand drawings, and plans/diagrams. The portfolio highlights Shannon's experience in landscape architecture, urban design, and representation skills.

Planting Analysis: Existing conditions on site are not conducive to the establishment of a functioning Jack Pine Oak Sand
Barren. The mono-culture of red pines that dominates the site limits the area’s ability to adapt and support a wide variety of plant species.
Many natural processes are interrupted by the thick stands of red pines, Fire rejuvenation has been aggressively managed to reduce the
mortality of the trees used as a sustained yield crop on site. With the reduction of naturally occurring fires the communities of grasses
that would normally accompany the site is much less diverse and much less able to support the diversity of life that a healthy Jack pine
and Oak sand barren would be able to. By restoring the landscape to a more diverse sucessional landscape like the native jack pine oak
sand barren in the state a healthier grouping of habitat areas can be established and storm water can be more effectively managed with
a stronger presence of under story species. The jack pine oak sand barren is a diverse landscape complimented by a strong presence of
canopy species and a host of under story plants that offer the most opportunities to develop habitat areas. Three primary groupings of
plant communities will be combined together to create this landscape including; Jack Pine Oak Sand Barren, Mesic Prairie, and Hillside
Prairie. Traditional canopy species tend to occupy areas of higher slope while grassland communities tend to thrive in large expanses of
flat to rolling topography. Sand barrens often include a varying range of canopy cover, some sites contain up to 60% canopy cover with
smaller openings of grassland communities while others display canopy cover of less than 10%. Slope will be the primary differentiating
characteristic attributed to the selection of plant material on site while areas closer to the residential development and areas of strategic
importance on the golf course will be more highly designed to have denser canopy cover.

The central Location of the club house acts as the epicenter of entertainment for resort guests and visitors.Green Spur parks connect the site for pedestrians and resort guests
7. CLUB HOUSE TOURNAMENT SPECTATOR AREA
The club house offers typical resort amenities. Seating areas at the Tournament Plaza allow for spectators to watch their favorite pros warm up and also allow for large grand-
stand areas for the finishing holes on the course.
8. Storm water runoff in the urbanized areas is channeled to the central ring and allowed to flow outward to the detention basins on site.
Runoff entering the detention basins is filtered by a terrace system that acts like a natural sewer system.
