This document outlines the stages of human embryonic development from fertilization through implantation and formation of the placenta and germ layers. It begins with fertilization of an egg by sperm to form a zygote, followed by cell division and formation of a morula and blastocyst. The blastocyst implants into the uterine wall and develops into an embryo as the germ layers form. The placenta and associated structures develop to facilitate nutrient exchange between the mother and developing embryo.
