Biologics Registry Project
1. Resources for Medical Education and Collaboration (RMEC) is pleased to present the opportunity, for both medical professionals and industry, to engage in collaborative data-collection through case registries. RMEC is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving health care delivery and advancing evidence-based medicine through collaborative research and education, locally and globally. www.resourcesmec.org
2. Registries - gathering and analyzing data through a collaborative, on-line platform - provide real-world feedback for application and efficacy of currently utilized osteo-biologics Care based only on informed opinion or anecdotal experience is not always reliable Spine care driven by comparative clinical evidence improves outcomes Evidence review furthers technological innovation and methods Benefits not only patients, but physicians and industry Evidence-Based Practice
3. A multi-site data collection and collaboration platform (registry) for analysis of osteo-biologics used to treated patient outcomes. Hosted by Syndicom, Inc., www.syndicom.com, creators of “Spine Connect”. Easy to use Data can then be extruded from all cases to present outcomes. What is
4. How it works Add a case Data Management Invite members, or email the group
5. Understanding of efficacy of different biologics in different case settings Ability to innovate with new osteobiologics based on data Advancement of evidence-based medical practice based on outcomes Building a collaborative mindset within the spine surgery community Benefits of Biologics Registries
6. Medical device companies (MDC) to contribute a medical education grant to RMEC RMEC utilizes leadership council to review registry needs and creation of data fields The data will be analyzed by the physician investigators and those results will be available to all participating physicians and MDCs Data presented at CME meetings Innovation follows Next Steps
7. When comparative evidence is used clinically, “the data is analyzed by researchers, the best practice is incorporated into the clinical process”* and technological innovation follows results.
