1. REACTION
Republic Act No.8551 is an act establishing the Philippine National Police under a
recognized Department of the Interior and local Government. As I read the whole content of this
act, I learned a lot of things such as the power and functions of the commission. It develops
policies and regulations for efficient and improvement of the PHP force. The Commission is the
one who is responsible to conduct an annual self-survey and compile statistical data for the
accurate assessment of the crime situation and proper evaluation of the efficiency and
effectiveness of all police units in the country. It means that the powers and functions of the
Commission is very important because through this, all the police will be aware and
knowledgeable enough in terms of conducting crime investigation. With this act, it helps the law
enforcement officer to be a good example in the society.” Police in uniform but civilian in
character” means that even though you’re a police wearing prescribed uniform but still your
attitude regarding in treating people would be accurate to the benefits of the people about the
PNP image. To serve and protect the lives of an individual. I really appreciate the persons who
formulated this kind of act. It contributed a lot of information’s to the students like us who were
still studied our field of specialization. It also highlighted the types of services and its duties to
each of them. Under this act, I was able to know the general qualifications and standards in the
recruitment and selection of police personnel. As I browse the qualifications, there’s a big
question into my mind if am I be qualified to be a police personnel someday. If others can do,
why can’t I? The motto which gave me a strong desire to face challenges through the help and
guidance of our personal Lord and Savior-Jesus Christ. I believe that God is capable in providing
the five aspects in life. The physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual needs. This kind of
act is not broad because it stated clearly the procedures to administer the entrance and
promotional examinations for policeman/policewoman of standards set by the Commissions.
Aside from that, it gathers information about the grading of salaries and benefits of the law
enforcement officer. To serve my town is my ultimate dream. If God will give me an opportunity
to become a police woman, I’d like to serve my own locality- the DAUIS.The rate of crime in
our place has increased because crime is considered as social phenomenon. My goal is to prevent
and make some moves to lessen the rate of crime in DAUIS. I’m in favor of this act because
things which I have not yet known before has suddenly stated in the whole content. It triggers me
to read the whole body of the republic act. A lot of things to learn and lot of things to remember.
This act will provide legal assistance to any member of the PNP who is facing before the
prosecutor’s office which I like the most. In accordance with us-the women, the PNP also
prioritizing women for recruitment that will serve in the women’s desk. Therefore, I can say that
the treatment between male and female police applicants is fair. For I believe that gender is not a
hindrance in strengthening the onion and bond on the PNP force. For me, women police
personnel nowadays are very important because they are the one who will make reports
regarding crime investigation. This act is highly attached in Dep’t of Interior and Local
Government. A million thanks to the people behind this act.Eventhough I am not able to know
them, but deep inside my heart you can truly recognize what my feeling is.
