The masthead on the 'Rolling Stone' magazine is often behind the
model that is on the cover as this illustrates that the magazine is a
well known magazine therefore it is not required that the masthead
is completely visible. The masthead on the magazine also follows a
theme as it is always a particular font however the colour changes
with each edition of the magazine. The cover lines that are used on
the 'Rolling Stone' magazine are fairly basic with the fonts that are
used. The clour scheme that is used for cover lines on the magazine
relate to the masthead and the colours used for the image and what
the model is wearing. There are also some slight effects or added to
the cover lines for emphasis. The background image used for the
'Rolling Stone' magazine is often fairly basic with either a plain
background or a slight gradient and a model. The model used will
relate to one of the boldest cover lines used and will often have a
similar colour scheme that the cover lines and masthead has.
The masthead I have used for my music magazine is a similar font to the one used
for the 'Rolling Stone' magazine. I used this font as I feel that it is a bold font
however, remains easy to read. I also replicated the design of having the model
partially cover the masthead to portray the idea that it is popular magazine.
furthermore, I also used the effect of a slight glow around the masthead, as the
'Rolling Stone' does, for further emphasis. Similar to the 'Rolling Stone' I attempted
to keep the cover lines used on my magazine fairly basic in terms of the way they
look. Furthermore, I also developed the effect, that 'Rolling Stone' uses, of adding a
slight glow around main cover lines. Another feature from the 'Rolling Stone'
magazine that I used was to have one of the boldest cover lines relate to the model
used. I also attempted to keep the colours of the cover lines similar to the colour
scheme of the cover in general. A feature of the 'Rolling Stone' cover that I used is
the model; the idea I used is to have one model as the main image for the cover
with a fairly basic pose and with no background to the model. However, I
challenged this particular 'Rolling Stone' cover by instead of have a plain whit
background, using another design that 'Rolling Stone' uses which is the gradient
that I have used for the background on my media product.
3. Here is an example of a contents page from the
music magazine ‘Vibe’. The contents page from this
magazine uses feature that repeat in each issue;
such as the word ‘contents’ is divided and the large
‘V’ in the background. Furthermore, the same font
is always used to outline the content of the
magazine. Similar to the ‘Rolling Stone’ cover, they
also use a very plain background such as on
neutral colour or a slight gradient. Another, feature
that ‘Vibe’ repeatedly uses fro their contents pages
is having only one image of the main model.
For my contents page used the idea of the large ‘V’
in the background, although I changed it to an ‘L’ so
that it relates to my magazine, ‘Legends’. In
addition I challenged the idea, that ‘Vibe’ uses, of
having only one large image. Although I did use
one main image, I also added a small strip of
images relating to something featured in the
contents. Furthermore, I developed the idea of
using a slight gradient as it is used on other
editions of ‘Vibe’. I also replicated fonts used and
presented the contents similarly.

This double page spread uses different features
to make it affective. One of these features is
that they have related the title to the image that
they have used. Furthermore, they used a font
for the title that portrays the affect of
handwriting and that it is roughly done. They
then repeat this font in sections throughout the
double page spread. Another feature used is a
coulour scheme and also using a white
background to the text so that it is easy to read.
For my double page spread I have attempted to
use the feature of relating the title to the image
as the title ‘Life’s Good’ is portrayed by the
model relaxing. In addition, I attempted to
replicate the font used in the real media product
as I wanted to portray the roughness and
relaxed feel theme of the double page spread.
Another feature that I used from the example is
the colour scheme as well as the white
background to the text so that it is legible.
