FROM HARVARD
Eric Stark Maskin
Nobel Laureate, Adams University Professor at Harvard
Professor Maskin received the 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for laying the
foundations for mechanism design theory. He has also made significant contributions to
game theory, contract theory, social choice theory, political economy, and other areas of
economics. He received his A.B. and PhD from Harvard. He was also a faculty member at
MIT from 1977-1984, Harvard from 1985-2000, and the Institute for Advanced Study from
2000-2011. He rejoined the Harvard faculty in 2012.
Elon Kohlberg
Royal Little Professor at Harvard Business School
Professor Kohlberg has been a faculty member of Harvard Business School since 1976
where he teaches classes in Harvard's MBA, PhD and Executive Programs. Professor
Kohlberg serves on the board of directors of Teva Pharmaceuticals, Medinol, and DigiBlock, Inc. He received a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in mathematics from the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem.
Benjamin Edelman
Harvard Business School Faculty
Ben Edelman is an associate professor at Harvard Business School in the Negotiation,
Organizations & Markets unit. Ben holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Economics at
Harvard University, a J.D. from the Harvard Law School, an A.M. in Statistics from the
Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and an A.B. in Economics from Harvard
College. Ben's current research explores the public and private forces shaping Internet
architecture and business opportunities.
Magnus Thor Torfason
Harvard Business School Faculty
Magnus Thor Torfason is an assistant professor in the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at
Harvard Business School, where he teaches The Foundersโ Dilemmas course. His research
focuses on how behavior is influenced by the social structure of individuals and
organizations and his work has been profiled in media outlets such as The Washington
Post, WSJ, BBC, and NPR. Magnus holds a Ph.D. from Columbia Business School, B.S. in
both Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Iceland.

Leland Cheung
Cambridge City Councilman
Leland Cheung is currently serving his second term on the Cambridge City Council, where
he has been a strong leader in economic development, community building, and regional
cooperation. He was first elected in 2009 while pursuing a Masters in Public Administration
at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of
Management. Prior to returning to graduate school, Cheung earned a BS in Physics, BA in
Economics and MS in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford University.
Garret John LoPorto
Founder and CEO of UPRISER
Garret LoPorto is a successful high-tech entrepreneur and U.S. & international patentpending inventor. Mr. LoPorto was the founder and CEO of several technology & media
companies. He has worked for Microsoft Research. He has been interviewed by 20/20, The
New York Times, Money Magazine, The London Financial Times and The Boston Globe. He
and his projects have been featured on national television, including CNN and ABC.
Mel Dogan
International Transaction Lawyer, Columbia Law School
Mr. Dogan, Esq. is a graduate of Columbia Law School. He specializes in international
business transactions including corporate finance and real estate development for foreign
high net worth families and entities. Mr. Dogan has over 34 years experience in
international financial markets, including China, Brazil, Russia, Italy, Turkey, and the Czech
Republic, having counseled transaction projects exceeding $3 billion.
Dougan Sherwood
Director of Cambridge Innovation Center
Dougan oversees the companyโs sales and relationship management functions, as well as
its international outreach. Prior to his work at CIC, Dougan spent several years working in
experiential education throughout the United States with a particular focus on leadership
development. Dougan has also interned for the late Senator Edward Kennedy and served
on the board of a non-profit organization helping children with HIV/AIDS.
