• England- The capital is London.

• Wales- The capital is Cardiff.
United Kingdom is not the same as Great Britain.
UK also includes Northern Ireland, (the capital is
Belfast)
3. Britain comes from Britannia, the name that the
Romans gave the whole island.
England or Engla Land means the land of the
Angles.
The Angles
invaded Britain at
the end of the 5th
century, along
with the Saxons
and Jutes.
4. ENGLAND AND ITS SYMBOLS
The patron saint of England is
St George.

The Romans were in England from
55 BC to 410 AD.
They built many roads and
important cities, such as London or
Bath.
Hadrian’s Wall was the
northern border of England.

In 1066, the Normans,
under the command of
William the Conqueror,
invaded and conquered
England.
