This document provides the schedule for the Ellister Show Horse & Pony event to be held on July 22nd 2012. The schedule outlines the various sections to be held including Mountain & Moorland ponies in hand, Heavy Horses in hand, and ridden leading rein native ponies. Section 4 focuses on Highland ponies being shown in hand across 13 classes. A Supreme Championship will be awarded to the best native horse or pony overall. The document provides entry details, prizes, rules and regulations for the event.

1. Ellister Show Horse & Pony Schedule for 22nd July 2012
to be held at Easter Ellister Farm, Nr Portnahaven, Islay of Islay.
Horses & Ponies in hand - Native breeds and their crosses
Judge: Mrs Gilean Docherty, Currie, Midlothian.
SECTION 1: MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN HAND 10.30 am
Entries in this section need not be registered and may be native crosses.
Class 1. Large Mountain & Moorland any age or sex: Dales, Fell, Welsh C & D,
Highland, Connemara, New Forest.
If entered in this class, Highlands may not compete in the Highland classes.
Highlands with white markings and unregistered ponies should be entered in this class.
Class 2. Small Mountain & Moorland, any age or sex: Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh
Sections A and B, Shetland.
Winners of Classes 1 & 2 go through to Champion Mountain & Moorland
1st and 2nd places go through to Reserve Champion Mountain & Moorland.
SECTION 2. HEAVY HORSES ANY BREED OR CROSS IN HAND - not earlier than 11.30 a.m.
Class 3. Mare or gelding, any age.
Champion & Reserve Rosettes for best Heavy Horse or cross.
SECTION 3. RIDDEN LEADING REIN NATIVE PONY OR CROSS - not earlier than 12 noon
Class 4. Best rider on leading rein aged 5 years old or under at date of show.
Class 5. Best rider on leading rein aged 6 - 10 years old at date of show
Class 6. Best leading rein pony
Trophy for winners of Classes 4 & 5;
Champion & Reserve Rosettes for Class 6.

2. SECTION 4. HIGHLANDS PONIES IN HAND - not earlier than 12.30 p.m.
Class 7. Mare with foal at foot (foals must be halter led)
Class 8. Foal either sex (foals must be halter led)
Class 9. Brood mare, 3yo or older, in foal or yeld
Class 10. Yearling, gelding or filly.
Class 11. 2yo gelding or filly
Class 12. 3yo gelding or filly (fillies must not have been entered in Class 9)
Class 13. Mare or gelding, 4yo or older. (mares must not have been entered in Class 9)
Winners of Classes 7 to 13 go forward to Champion Highland Pony
1st & 2nd places of Classes 7 to 13 go forward to Reserve Champion Highland Pony
Rosettes to 4th place in all classes

Please note :
1. Entries to be in by 1st July 2012 please
2. Late entries will be accepted, but entry will not be shown in the catalogue.
3. Entries: £2 per entry or donation, payable on the day.
4. Prizes: Rosettes to 4th place in each class; Champions & Reserves in each Section.
5. Sections will not start before the time given, but may be later.
6. Please be ready for your class; the class will start without you if you are not ready to come into the
ring.

3. Rules and Regulations:
1. All male ponies of 1yo or over must have been gelded
2. All ponies wishing to have overnight accommodation at Ellister must have been wormed within the
past four weeks (chopped garlic is acceptable). Separate fields for geldings, females, and mares & foals will
be available. Please complete the Pony requirement Booking Form and return it by 1st July at latest.
3. All pony handlers must be aged 12 years old or over. If younger than 12, they must be supervised
by a parent or guardian.
4. Trailers and horseboxes may be parked in the field just past the main show field, on the right - and
just past Ellister house. The Collecting field is opposite the trailer field. No trailers allowed into either the
Show field or the Collecting field.
5. No ponies allowed in to the main show field; please use the Collecting field, opposite the trailer
park. The holding pens for ponies are inside Collecting field.
6. Leading rein ponies must be led by 12 yo or older; riders must wear approved headgear.
7. There will be a limited number of pens available for those bringing more than one pony and priority
will be given to mares and foals.
Pens and/or overnight accommodation MUST be reserved by 1 st July.
If there are enough entries in this year's show, we hope to hold Cross Country and Dressage competitions
next year, as well as the in hand showing.
