Washington.

in the city.

15. My routines
I wake up at 5:00 to drink coffee and feed the animals.

16. I used to take
the bus to
school. My bus
ride was 45
minutes, every
day.
These are real. Everyone rides these.

17. When I was
16, I started
driving a car
to school.
This was my first car. It was old, even 10 years ago.

18. My high school -- Central Valley High School
There are 2,200 students. There were
450 in my grade.

19. The lessons start at 7:30 A.M., and finish around 2:30.
In America, we use
teachers’ last names.
Teachers are called
“Mrs. Gonzalez,” or
“Mr. Smith.”
In America, we often sit
apart from each other.

20. I have one break
during the day,
called lunch.
Usually, this is at
11:00 AM.
It is very important where you sit.
You can’t sit with people you
don’t know.

21. Because schools are very big, you don’t know
everyone.
So every year, we get a
book called a yearbook.
Everyone’s face is in it.

22. In America, we play sports after school.
And it’s free.
You don’t play for a club, like
in Spain. You play for your
school.

23. At my school, the boys’ teams are good.

24. But the girls’ teams are much, much better.
They win many championships in
soccer and in basketball.

25. I play tennis. I play tennis for
2 hours a day. And I train 6
days per week.

26. After tennis, I go home. And I study for 3 hours every day.
This is normal in America.

graduation, when I was

27. I eat dinner around 7:00 PM.
Many people eat fast food every single
day in America.
Most people then go to bed around 9:30
or 10:00.

28. Sometimes, I have fun with my friends.
We also have school dances, like Prom.
Fact: The
average
prom dress
costs about
$200.
These
are our
versions
of clubs!

29. In the summer, I work as a construction worker.
It is very common to have a job
as a teenager, usually at 16.

30. When I am not in school, my family and I go on
vacation in Idaho.
Idaho is a state next to Washington. It is
almost like a different country!

31. But sometimes, we vacation in other places!
