Stephen Dank, a sports scientist, had his appeal against a life ban chucked out by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority. The AFL Appeals Board moved to throw out Dank's case after he cited a family medical emergency for missing his hearing but failed to provide supporting documents. Dank was found guilty last year of 10 anti-doping code violations including trafficking banned substances during his work at Essendon in 2012 and earlier at the Gold Coast Suns, as well as supplying a banned substance to a Carlton support person in 2012. The life ban issued by the AFL precludes Dank from working in any sport that follows the World Anti-Doping Agency code.
