National Early Registration Day
for Grade 10 completers
(October 19 to November 13,
2015).

CGP will assist Grade 10 students make
informed choices regarding their preferred
SHS track.

Self-Discovery
Learner’s discovery of who they are in
terms of likes, values, skills, and
interests

Informs the learner of the possible

their dreams through the different SHS

Charting Your Own Course
Focuses on the decision-making skills of
the learner and integrates his/her self-
awareness in choosing the SHS track that
suits him/her

Guidelines on K to 12 Partnership
DepEd needs to enter into partnerships
with different groups (LGU) in the fields of:
- Work immersion opportunities for public
SHS learners
- Use of facilities and equipment
- Additional teacher training opportunities
- Additional resources in the form of
donations

Work Immersion
It refers to the part of the SHS Curriculum
consisting of 80 hours of hands-on
experience or work simulation which the
Grades 11 and 12 students will undergo to
expose them to the actual workplace
setting and to enrich the competencies
provided by the school under the
supervision of the School Head and the
designated personnel of the partner.

The 80 hours may be
scheduled for no more
than 8 cumulative or
consecutive hours per
day.

Work Immersion
All Technical-Vocational
Institutions offering SHS shall
also be governed by this
guidelines of TESDA and DOLE
relevant to basic education shall
also apply.

Work Immersion
Partnerships/Work Immersion shall be
governed by existing laws and DepEd
issuances such as, but not limited to, the
following:
a. Child Protection Policy
b. Anti-Bullying Act
c. Act Declaring Sexual Harassment
Unlawful in the Employment, Education or
Training Environment, for Other Purposes

d. Prohibition of cooperation or partnership with
the tobacco industry in all areas of the country
e. Strengthening the integration of
breastfeeding education in the curriculum,
setting up and sustaining the operation of
lactation stations
f. Executive Order No. 51, school officials are
discouraged from partnering with companies
manufacturing milk and infant formula products

Work Immersion
g. Adopt-A-School Act of 1998 ( amount of
donation equivalent to 150% is deducted from
the Taxable Income)
h. Relevant labor laws and issuances in the
fields of internships, apprenticeship, on-the-job
training (OJT), and others
i. Article 218 and 219 of the Family Code, on
the special parental authority and responsibility
of schools, administrators and teachers

Course Description:
Work immersion is one of the course
requirements for graduation. A Senior High
School student has to undergo work
immersion in a business
organization/establishment whose work
requirements are related to the
specialization.

Through work immersion, the
students are exposed to and
become familiarized with work-
related environment related to
their field of specialization.

CG for Immersion
Specifically, the students are able to: (i) gain
relevant and practical industrial skills under
the guidance of industry experts and workers;
(ii) appreciate the importance and application
of the principles and theories taught in the
school; (iii) enhance their technical
knowledge and skills; and (iv) prepare them
to meet the needs and challenges of
employment or higher education after their
graduation.

  • 1. Senior High School Career Guidance Program And Student Immersion Guidelines October 27, 2015
  • 2. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM (CGP) 2 For incoming Senior High School students to guide them on their career path in time for the National Early Registration Day for Grade 10 completers (October 19 to November 13, 2015).
  • 3. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Career Guidance Program CGP will assist Grade 10 students make informed choices regarding their preferred SHS track. 3
  • 4. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Sec. Br. Armin Luistro “We want our students to be aware of the importance of choosing a track that suites their interest while at the same time matches the available resources as well as job opportunities that await them.” 4
  • 5. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Career Guidance Manual CGP has 3 modules. 5
  • 6. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Module 1 Embarking on a Journey of Self-Discovery Learner’s discovery of who they are in terms of likes, values, skills, and interests 6
  • 8. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Module 2 Examining the Destinations Informs the learner of the possible resources they may use in realizing their dreams through the different SHS Tracks 8
  • 9. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Module 3 Charting Your Own Course Focuses on the decision-making skills of the learner and integrates his/her self- awareness in choosing the SHS track that suits him/her 9
  • 10. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Guidelines on K to 12 Partnership DepEd needs to enter into partnerships with different groups (LGU) in the fields of: - Work immersion opportunities for public SHS learners - Use of facilities and equipment - Additional teacher training opportunities - Additional resources in the form of donations 10
  • 11. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Work Immersion It refers to the part of the SHS Curriculum consisting of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which the Grades 11 and 12 students will undergo to expose them to the actual workplace setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school under the supervision of the School Head and the designated personnel of the partner. 11
  • 12. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Work Immersion The 80 hours may be scheduled for no more than 8 cumulative or consecutive hours per day. 12
  • 13. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Work Immersion All Technical-Vocational Institutions offering SHS shall also be governed by this guidelines of TESDA and DOLE relevant to basic education shall also apply. 13
  • 14. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Work Immersion Partnerships/Work Immersion shall be governed by existing laws and DepEd issuances such as, but not limited to, the following: a. Child Protection Policy b. Anti-Bullying Act c. Act Declaring Sexual Harassment Unlawful in the Employment, Education or Training Environment, for Other Purposes 14
  • 15. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Work Immersion d. Prohibition of cooperation or partnership with the tobacco industry in all areas of the country e. Strengthening the integration of breastfeeding education in the curriculum, setting up and sustaining the operation of lactation stations f. Executive Order No. 51, school officials are discouraged from partnering with companies manufacturing milk and infant formula products 15
  • 16. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Work Immersion g. Adopt-A-School Act of 1998 ( amount of donation equivalent to 150% is deducted from the Taxable Income) h. Relevant labor laws and issuances in the fields of internships, apprenticeship, on-the-job training (OJT), and others i. Article 218 and 219 of the Family Code, on the special parental authority and responsibility of schools, administrators and teachers 16
  • 17. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION Curriculum Guide for Immersion 17 Grade: 12 No. of Hours: 80 hours Subject Title: Work Immersion Pre-requisite: Specialization Subjects
  • 18. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CG for Immersion Course Description: Work immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A Senior High School student has to undergo work immersion in a business organization/establishment whose work requirements are related to the specialization. 18
  • 19. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CG for Immersion Through work immersion, the students are exposed to and become familiarized with work- related environment related to their field of specialization. 19
  • 20. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CG for Immersion Specifically, the students are able to: (i) gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and workers; (ii) appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories taught in the school; (iii) enhance their technical knowledge and skills; and (iv) prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment or higher education after their graduation. 20
