The parking information system informs users of available parking spaces through various methods. Sensors detect empty spaces and send this data to variable signs or a traffic control center. This information is then communicated to potential users through signs, navigation systems, the internet or SMS to help drivers find empty spaces faster and reduce time spent searching. The system aims to improve parking efficiency as the number of vehicles has increased tremendously. It provides benefits like easier parking data processing and less burden on staff to manually check space availability.

3. The parking information system is a
system that informs the availability of
empty parking spaces and parking
automation that is usually applied in the
downtown area. Sometimes it is identical
with the automation of payment and
admission.

4. How it Works
The information about the empty parking space is obtained
from the vacant parking space detector owned by each Parking
Building which then this information is sent to the variable
beacon or traffic control center. The detector can be a vehicle
presence detector in the form of an induction loop, ultra sonic
or infrared or more advanced by using a video camera. Then the
image obtained is processed to get information whether the
parking space is empty or the contents. Subsequent data is
communicated to potential users of the parking space.
