An infusion set is used to deliver insulin from your pump to your body. Parts of an infusion set consist of: Cannula – a small tapered tube that remains under the skin to deliver insulin Introducer needle – pushes the cannula under the skin, then is removed Cannula Housing – holds the cannula and remains on the skin when disconnected from the pump Adhesive – hold cannula housing in place Tubing – connects the end of the reservoir to the cannula housing Serter™ device (insertion device) – makes inserting the cannula under the skin easier and virtually painless The tubing of the infusion set is then connected to the reservoir. Reservoir – stores the insulin administered by the insulin pump 1.80 mL or 3.00 mL capacity Only fill reservoir for a 2 or 3 day usage *Recommend the 1.80 mL reservoirs for people who use less than 50 units per day of insulin and the 3.00 mL reservoirs for people who use more than 50 units per day of insulin.
Each individual’s height, weight, muscle mass and activity level need to be taken into consideration because no single infusion set is right for everybody. Healthcare Provider advice should be sought when selecting an infusion set.
The Paradigm ® Connection is a unique interface between the Paradigm ® infusion set and reservoir. We will look at each component in isolation.

The insertion angle of the Silhouette ® is comfortable for active users and reduces the risk of cannula pull-out
Infusion Sets and Pregnancy Site management during pregnancy is highly individualised. The selection and management of infusion sets and insertion techniques should be discussed with the members of the healthcare team most experienced with the various infusion sets and the changing needs of a woman during pregnancy. What matters the most is to keep the blood glucose readings in a normal range.
