2. No special license is needed to use towing
vehicles that weigh 25,999 pounds or less.
However, those weighing 26,000 lbs or more
necessitate possession of a class B license.
3. A towing vehicle should not be longer than 14 feet or wider than 8½ feet. Also,
a trailer must not be longer 45 feet, higher than 14 feet and wider than 8 feet
& 6 inches.
4. According to section 545.409, a trailer should
be connected properly to its towing vehicle so
that the trailer's weight can be pulled
effectively.
6. The speed limit of towing vehicles within Texas
and on the Interstate is 70 mph, unless posted
otherwise. At night, it reduces to a maximum
speed of 65 mph. Speed limits for 5th wheel
trailers during day & night are 60 mph & 55
mph respectively.
7. It is illegal to ride with a child of age of 18 years or less in a flatbed trailer,
as per section 545.410.
