2. Hi I’m Alice, and I’m 16. It’s been a while
since we’ve spoken and a lot of things have
changed in the past two years: Brads’ gone,
my parent have grown to be more
confusing and my life took a turn for the
worse…
3. We moved away from England
about a year and a half ago, and
moved to Jamaica. I started school
there and made a lot of new
friends. They were the “cool” kids…
I soon got into a lot of bother and
soon enough I got kicked out of
school…
4. Home life soon became unbearable. I couldn’t understand how these
people could have been my parents. We were so different. I became to
believe that they didn’t love me. So I ran away…
5. I started off at the local library. And as I was
looking for hostels etc, I stumbled across
something unpleasant…

7. I didn’t know how to feel about what I was reading as I
scrolled down the computer screen. It was almost like
part of me didn’t want to believe it. And another part
of me was thrilled about it…
8. My “parents” had kidnapped me. They had
hitchhiked from London to France when I was all
but 1 and a half years old. And for the past 14
and a half years they’ve been looking for me.
Looking for their little girl who was stolen from
them by the people who brought me up as their
own ever since…
I wish Brad was here, although I haven't thought about
him in 2 years. At least I could have counted on him to be
there when I needed him most. But he’s gone. We had to
leave him behind when we fled from the UK. My father [-
- that man!- said they could track us if I took my baxi. So
he ripped that from my childhood along with other
things ill never get back…
9. I found some sort of letter on the internet. I couldn’t understand it. It was in
some form of Russian or other...

I didn’t understand what this said. I didn’t know if there was a house number,
an address. I didn’t know if their was a reward for whoever had found me. I
didn’t know how long I had been missing when they wrote it. I didn’t even
know their names.
11. I asked the librarian if I she knew what it said. She recommended that I go to
the youth centre as there were a lot of people there fluent in a variety of
different languages. So as she wrote down directions I gathered all my things. I
was anxious to find out what this letter said. And the sooner I did the quicker I
could contact my REAL parents…
