“How does the milk production in
the Israel Holstein-Friesian

age up to a maximum and there after a negative correlation occurs.
Main objective

the correlation between the age and milk production in Holstein-Friesian
dairy cows.
Other objectives
the age at which Holstein-Friesian cows first calve down
daily average maximum milk production per cow
age at which a Holstein Friesian cow reaches its highest peak in milk

13. Discussion of results
Factors that lead to the
increase in milk yield in
relation to age.
Digestive system/rumen
size increases
Mammary gland development.
Udder development – increase cell
size and numbers (Alveoli )
increase in milk.
Body weight gain.
14. Result Discussion cont'd
Factors that lead to the
decrease in milk yield in
relation to age.
With time,
a) milk secreting cells
degenerates (Alveoli)
b) Fertility problems
Retained placenta,
anoestrous
metabolic diseases (ketosis)
c) Incidences of diseases
Mastitis
15. Conclusion
•
Milk yield in Holstein-Friesian dairy cows
correlates positively with the age up to a
maxmum and there after a negative correlation
occurs at the age of 4-5 years.(polynomial
relationship)
