This document provides information about ILSC's 4-week CELTA teacher training program in Montreal. The CELTA is a qualification for people with little or no teaching experience that allows graduates to teach English around the world. The program focuses on practical teaching skills through input sessions, 6 hours of supervised teaching practice, lesson planning guidance, and 4 written assignments. It has small class sizes of 6 trainees and is assessed by the University of Cambridge to ensure a high standard.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The objective of our teacher training program is to provide trainees with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be
successful ESL teachers.
CELTA is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience and is one of the most
widely taken qualifications of its kind. Over 10,000 people each year choose CELTA to open up a whole world of
exciting English language teaching opportunities.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Input sessions: learn the principles of effective teaching
and gain a range of practical skills for teaching English to
adult learners.
Teaching practice: six hours of supervised and assessed
teaching at various levels.
Feedback on teaching practice: personalized feedback on
your teaching practice.
Lesson planning: guidance in planning your lessons for
the teaching practicum.
Support: individualized tutorials to help you map your
progress.
Observation: learn from observing your peers and
experienced teachers.
Assignments: four written assignments to reinforce the
theory behind the practical aspects of teaching.
