3. THE DIVORCE
CONSEQUENTLY, WHEN TWO PEOPLE
DON’T SEE EYE TO EYE IN THEIR
MARRIAGE .. THEY SEPARATE – AND
CONSEQUENTLY, THE KIDS ARE
ALWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT!
WELL THAT’S MY MOTHER AND FATHER’S
RELATIONSHIP IN A NUT SHELL ….
4. THE VOICE OF TRIUMPH
MEMBER OF A CHURCH
ENSEMBLE GROUP OF 8
SELECTED YOUTH
SINGERS.
As a member of a limited group, you learn how to
collaborate with ours and you become very inclusive
of the members by being “open to diversity and
various view points”, as described by Komives.
6. BAND (TRUMPET)
FEW ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
1ST CHAIR IN CONCERT BAND AND REGIONAL
BAND
3RD CHAIR IN DISTRICT BAND
In band, the sum of the bands parts represent the band as a whole. In a
more simplistic understanding, each individual plays a vital role in how
the band sounds. In a sense, this model kind of represents Komives’
‘purposeful’ component, we he asserts that everyone has something to
offer to the group. It calls for “an individual commitment to a goal or
activity through collaborative works.”
7. YOUNG MEN OF DISTINCTION (YMD)
GROUP OF YOUNG AFRICAN
AMERICAN PRE-TEENS WHO
VOLUNTEERED THROUGHOUT
THE COMMUNITY AND
SERVICED THE SCHOOL IN
WHATEVER WAS NEED.
Allowed for a process-oriented application. We
recognized that the process (in this case, the
service) is significantly as important as the outcome
(in this case, the good deed).
9. KASANOVA STEP TEAM (
SPONSORED BY KAPPA ALPHA PSI
FRATERNITY, INC)
HISTORIAN (SOPHMORE & JUNIOR
YEAR)
VICE PRESIDENT (SENIOR YEAR)
Though there are titles within the organization, we
don’t like placing limitations & finitudes on the
group so we allow every to be involved.
10. KEEPING EACH OTHER STRONG (KEOS)
STARTED A ORGANIZATION THAT WOULD MEET UP EVERY
MORNING AT THE FLAG POLE CENTERED IN FRONT OF
OUR SCHOOL AND SIMPLY PRAY. WE WOULD PRAY FOR
OURSELVES, OTHERS, OUR SCHOOL, OUR NATION,
ETC. WE WOULD SIMPLY LOCK HANDS AS WE CIRCLED
THE FLAG POLE AND EVERYONE WOULD PRAY TO
THEMSELVES AND WHEN YOU WERE DONE PRAYING,
YOU WOULD TAKE THE TWO HANDS YOU ARE
HOLDING AND PUT THEM TOGETHER, AND SIMPLY
WALK AWAY.
12. CHOIR
AFTER 3 FAILED ATTEMPTS, I FINALLY MADE
STATE MY SENIOR YEAR WITH DEDICATION
TENOR SECTION LEADER
My instructor informed the section leaders on the
ways in which the sections should act, operate, and
collaborate. It created the “middle man leadership”
position, so to speak; in that, we would provide what
we were instructed to.
13. CLASS RANK
3RD IN MY CLASS
Forced me to build my ethical and moral components
exclusively. It also gave me a since of purpose, a
sense of gratitude, and a sense of moral stability.
Ultimately, the journey towards this was a didactic
operation in itself.
14. HOUSEHOLD
EVERYONE’S
GONE …
I became the man of the house in a sense. My father
instructed my brothers and I to take of my mother.
That’s essentially what I did. I had to maintain my
grades will helping my mother will household things.
Though having the house to myself was nice
15. HOUSTON (HTX)
My senior of high school, my parents
allowed me to go to school in Houston
and stay in an apartment alone so that
I may view schools I wanted to attend
in Texas and to adapt to the new
setting smoothly (which was then my
preconceived location to advance my
studies).
Living alone forced me to mature quickly and no my
limitations and finitudes. I had to adapt to the societal
norms of Houston which greatly differed from that of
Paramount. I think it gave me the opportunity to self
evaluate myself critically.
