The Existence of Pink Think
Human beings by nature are influenced by many things. This is
important because it gives people a certain identity. Likewise,
women and young girls are also influenced by many factors.
This forms the basis of “Pink Think,” an article which explores
how the behavior of women is influenced by various factors in
their surroundings. The phrase Pink Think means “a set of ideas
and attitudes about what constitutes proper female behavior”
(Peril 281). Pink Think still exists in today’s society. Pink
Think exists in behavior because women assume a standard
character to which they all aspire. Also, it exists in activities in
order to promote the concept of femininity. Moreover, Pink
Think exists in products because women consider it a form of
fashion as well as in institutions, so they can appear attractive.
The existence of all these factors shows that Pink Think still
exists in today’s society.
Pink Think is still thriving in today’s society. Women are still
being viewed as silly, and they hardly receive the respect they
deserve. Society has come a long way from what it once was.
However, some attributes are still considered too masculine for
women to hold. Women are suppressed on a daily basis. They
are stereotyped as chatty, emotional, and weak. Even if they are
given the same freedom as everyone else, emotionally they are
discouraged and held back by the fear of being called “butch” if
they know how to throw a punch, blow a whistle, or if they can
climb a tree.
One area where Pink Think is evident is in the job market or
workforce. Women hold onto the myths that some jobs are
meant for men, and there are few opportunities available for
them in the job market. Many people still tend to believe that
women belong at home where they care for their family and
attend to visitors from their social circle. Men are
uncomfortable being of lower rank in the workplace than
women. Women tend to be comfortable working as a secretary
for a man but the case is different with a man working as a
secretary for a woman, or a man being a nurse while the woman
is the surgeon.
It is somehow difficult even today for women to take on jobs as
automotive engineers, welders, or as carpenters. They can
legally work wherever they please, but women are still not free
from enormous sexual harassment, a lack of respect from their
co-workers, and even from some family members. Women are
afraid to act in certain ways or to be too successful because they
are afraid that men may be intimidated by them. This explains
why women tend to be low risk takers and passive in nature.
Education is another area where Pink Think can be identified,
despite its role in trying to change this culture by providing
women with the truth about their rights in society. Higher
learning institutions tend to set pass marks or targets for women
and girls to be lower than those set for their male counterparts.
This shows that the education sector still believes that
competition only exists among men, and that women are
unskilled in some fields. For instance, most people believe that
women are unskilled in mathematics, and any woman who
scores highly in this subject is considered to have special genes
that are not girl-like and receives much attention.
Media shapes the society’s view of femininity. The media
influences today’s society via messages through the television,
radio, magazines, and billboards: “If the image is appearance-
focused and sends a clear message about a woman’s body as an
object, then it’s going to affect women” (Grabe, par 5). Women
in advertisements are free of wrinkles, pimples, and scars. They
are young, blonde, and thin. People could describe them to be
perfect, and these advertisements have a huge influence on
society.
Advertisements use women as objects of beauty to attract
consumers. This is done commonly in the automotive industry,
where tall and thin ladies wearing high heels lean on cars. This
is also done in television commercials that advertise hair and
skin care products. They convince women that to be pretty they
need to have perfect hair and a smooth skin without blemishes.
They also convince women that if they don’t, then no one,
particularly men, will look at them or take them seriously. They
encourage the judgement of women, in the sense that women are
only good based on their visual assets such as their face,
breasts, and hips, not on their intelligence or skills. This is a
perfect example of Pink Think.
Women are also concerned about their beauty, body size, and
shape. This is evident in terms of their efforts to look better
each day by wearing nice outfits and changing their hairstyles
as they seek to attract the attention of men. Many women
participate in these actions:
We women are strange creatures. We are so obsessed with
beauty that we’re willing to go to great measures to amp up our
physical attractiveness. Some things we do are completely
harmless, like doing our hair, throwing on cute outfits, or
practicing our own perfect smile. As for other things we do in
the name of beauty, well, most of them are completely nuts…
yet totally common. (Brayer, par 1)
Even older women are told they must use certain products in
order to look younger as if looking one’s age is morally wrong.
Women’s constant worry about looks and age is also another
example of Pink Think. For instance, it is considered wrong to
ask a woman her age, but this is not the case with asking men
their age. Many women tend to lie about their age more, and
this is more common in those who are unmarried. This is due to
the myth that men will always go for young attractive women as
compared to aged women even if they are pretty.
Another major area in which Pink Think stereotypes have been
evaluated and analyzed is sports and physical activities. Women
are considered to be soft and delicate. This expectation of
femininity has often resulted in women being discouraged from
sweating, carrying weights, being aggressive, participating, and
competing in sports and physical activities. The main reason for
this is due to the fact that society encourages women to be
“ladylike,” and not to demonstrate characteristics that are
considered masculine. However, when women go beyond the
line and show those masculine traits, people start to question
their gender identity, sexual orientation, social roles, and
values.
Dude think is another stereotype that is prevalent in today’s
society. Boys are encouraged to take up a manly sport such as
football, basketball, or cricket as they grow up. Men tend to
believe that they are not supposed to lose to women at sports
since they are expected to be faster, stronger, and better with
directions than any female. Men are also expected to be the
head of the household when they get married. Therefore, dude
think has the power to define the behavior of men.
Pink Think is still part of our everyday life, and it definitely
possesses the power to define women’s behavior. Pink Think
exists because women are motivated to meet certain standards.
It also exists in certain activities which spread ideas about
femininity. Additionally, Pink Think exists in products which
many women are encouraged to purchase. Finally, the idea of
Pink Think is present in many institutions in today’s society.
Pink Think does not exist in the same way it did in the past
decades, as it has evolved over time. Still, it is a concept which
continues to exist in today’s society.
“Pink Think” is still part of our everyday life and it definitely
possesses the power to define women’s behavior. It is evident
that society for some unknown reasons is incapable of rising
above it. We can see that magazines, advertisements, movies
and jobs are still stereotyping women. I strongly believe that
women should have equal job opportunities as men in the job
market and that education is the only way through which we can
erase this “Pink Think.” Women should maintain their bodies
and faces in a healthy and natural manner if they want to look
young and beautiful in their golden days. Some of the ways to
achieve this can be by eating a well-balanced diet and
exercising instead of using chemicals to change their
appearance.

Evaluation essay on Wikipedia resource entitled Racial
Inequality in the United States
It is a fact that there are no way all people in the society can
actually be the same. This is due to the undeniable truth that
people are actually brought up in different circumstances and
from different backgrounds. While, these are facts, it is
important to mention that they don’t justify in whatsoever way
the existence of racial inequality in the United States. A lot of
theories and literature has been written down all explaining the
issue of racial inequality in the US. One of the important
publications on the issue of racial inequality is a publication in
Wikipedia entitled, “Racial Inequality in the United States”.
This Wikipedia entry affirms the reliability of the Wikipedia
entry in reference to its Logos, Ethos and Pathos. ( I think I did
the background ok, but after that I did the theses and the map
which I am going to talk about wrong. The thesis must answer is
the Wikipedia reliable or not, then put the map the idea you are
going to talk about)
The “Wikipedia” entry for Wikipedia actually has used ethos to
demonstrate the authority and credibility of authors. This is
evident given the fact that different editors and contributors can
easily track any form of changes as well as give their ideas on a
given article. It has also been mentioned that readers can edit
any Wikipedia resource without any permission. This idea has
also been supported by the fact that the Wikipedia entry for
Wikipedia mentions that articles in Wikipedia are not
considered to be owned by the creators (“Wikipedia” sec. 1).
However for any edit to be considered as credible, then it must
not include the insertion of obscenities and crude humor.
Moreover, it is important that edits should not include
advertising language or any form of spam, otherwise, it will be
considered to be a form of vandalism (“Wikipedia” sec. 3). The
motive of the Wikipedia entry for Wikipedia is to demonstrate
that all Wikipedia resources are open to individuals, and readers
can make changes. However, they must be responsible when
making such changes.
(The second paragraph after the introduction paragraph you
have to write paragraph include Authority from editing policy,
credibility from vandalism policy, and motives “free”, org, easy
etc. this information you have to make quote from the
Wikipedia Wikipedia article. I did wrong I did not do the quote
editing and for vandalism correct. Please correct to me)
The author of the Wikipedia resource has used ethos to
demonstrate that there is indeed existence of racial inequality in
the USA. This is well evidenced given the nature of resources
that the author of this Wikipedia entry has used. In fact it is
important to mention that the author has actually used a number
of credible and trustworthy resources in presenting his/her
ideas. Some of these resources include The Pew Research
Center of 2009 that showed housing disparity among different
races. The author has also used a study carried by Lusardi that
also indicated different approaches to asset possession by
different races. In addition, the author also used a study carried
by Conley which indicated that wealth inequalities in the US
results due to economic disadvantages of different groups.
There are also a number of reliable resources that have been
used by the author to explain the issues of racial inequality in
the US. One of these resources includes Bowman’s study which
showed the issue of wealth disparities in the USA arises
because of the amount of wealth different races are able
inherited from their parents (“Racial inequality in the United
States” sec. 3.1). (Check the quote I think I did wrong). By
implication this study suggest that if a person comes from a rich
family, then a person will definitely continue being rich.
However, other contributory factors on inheritance include the
number of children in the family as well as the amount to be
inherited. A good example is a scenario where the amount to be
inherited is small while the number of children is high.
The Wikipedia resource has used Logos in explaining the
existence of racial inequality in the USA. The author of the
Wikipedia resources introduces the topic and writes that there is
a range of societal issues that affects the lives of many people
in disproportional manner (“Racial inequality in the United
States” sec. 1) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). In this
case, the author explains in details the manner through which
racial inequality manifests itself in the USA. The author
mentions that racial inequality can be clearly seen from looking
at the wealth owned by different races that in this case are
Whites, Hispanic population, Asians as well as African –
American populations (“Racial inequality in the United States”
sec. 3.2) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). In this case, he
notes that the wealth owned in terms of different races differs
from one race to another. This gives the justification of
existence of racial inequality in the US. To further proof his/her
point, the author also considers the amount of inheritance that
different races are likely to inherit from their parents. In
consideration of inheritance, this also gives a clear indication
that indeed racial inequality exists in the USA.
The author for the Wikipedia resource on racial inequality in
the USA has also used pathos in presenting his/her ideas. There
are a number of instances throughout the resource where the
author has actually used emotions or rather appeals to express
his views on the issue. One instance include where the author
says that the wealth gap between different races has tripled with
time (“Racial inequality in the United States” sec. 3.1) (Check
the quote I think I did wrong). In this case, the author aims at
demonstrating that indeed the problem of racial disparity and
inequality that has been in existence in the USA, still exist and
there is need to come up with better solutions or rather ways of
dealing with the issue. Another instance where the author has
used emotional appeals is when talking about the number of
prisoners who are jailed. According to the author, most
prisoners are non-white. The major reason being that they are
neither in a position of receiving the services of better lawyers
nor able to afford the amount required for bail application
(“Racial inequality in the United States” secs. 3.3-3.5) (Check
the quote I think I did wrong). This implies that individuals who
have sufficient money or rather who are affluent in the society
can actually escape punishment while the poor consist of a big
percentage of prisoners in the USA. There are other instances in
the Wikipedia resource where the author has also used emotions
appeals such as when most non-white residents in the USA fear
investing in risky assets and end up earning very little as
opposed to the white who invest in risky assets. The major
reason stated in the article for non-white fearing to invest in
risky projects is actually a lack of knowledge (“Racial
inequality in the United States” sec. 3) (Check the quote I think
I did wrong). This is discouraging and surely something need to
be done so that they can also get the necessary and helpful
required skills to invest in different projects.
Racial inequality still exists in the USA. This is evident given
the facts and statistic information that has been published in the
Wikipedia resource. The article has demonstrated that there is a
lot of inequality ranging from different areas in the USA. This
is evident given the consistence and clarity of information and
facts as presented in the Wikipedia resource. Moreover, the
article can be termed, as being credible and trustworthy given
that, there are very nice articles that were referred to prior to its
preparations. ( this sentence is wrong) On top of that, the author
uses various appeals aiming at showing the impact of racial
inequality in the entire USA population. Regardless of how bad
the situation on racial inequality is in the USA, I strongly belief
that with the concept of globalization, people will one day start
appreciating and helping one another, thereby enhancing
equality in society. (Make sure from the conclusion paragraph
that answer the Wikipedia is reliable or not and it restate the
point and has the opinion)
Note: make sure when I put word Wikipedia in Italic or in
quotation mark

The Importance of Education
Education has been considered and termed as a necessary
condition in our lives. In consequence, many parents have tried
in all ways possible to educate their children. This has prompted
Dave Maney’s who is also a parent to give his views regarding
to education in terms of the money and time spent studying and
the value attained thereafter. His views are published in the
article, “Is College a Sucker Bet”. The article is effective as it
gives a clear and vivid explanation as to how attending college
is meaningless. This is evident from the article given that
education does not reflect an individual’s capability of taking or
rather performing a certain work. Therefore, even though
college education plays an important role in our lives, young
people need to restart focusing their lives beyond the college
degree.
Maney’s ethos of writing this article was that it is high time
young people around the country to start focus about their lives
beyond an educational set up. ( this sentence not correct)Even
if education is important, things are not the same as they were
in the past. A good example is the amount of funds that is spent
in college as compared to the amount an individual is expected
to earn after college. Maney’argues that most higher learning
institution are in for business rather than conveying informative
knowledge to the young people that can actually help them in
their lives. In justifying his claim, he gives an example where
graduates from different colleges are treated differently not
because of their qualifications but rather because of the name of
the institution (Maney pars. 8-11) (I did the quote wrong). Thus,
in this case, students from well-known colleges can secure
employments faster as compared to those from minor colleges.
Maney uses logos to defend his arguments that colleges are a
gamble whose returns are insignificant as compared to the
amount of money and time spent. Maney disputes the claim that
people who earn high incomes have a college degree. In this
case, Maney indeed is able to provide other factors that are
associated with high incomes. Some of these factors according
to Maney include; people with high intelligence earning high
income. Also, if a person is brought up in a rich family, they
have a high chance of earning high incomes. In addition, people
who in their lives work hard, they too tend to earn high
incomes. Maney also defends his claim by mentioning an
example whereby he had to transfer to his home town college
and spent very little amount of money on education while his
first salary was well above the amount he had used studying
(Maney pars. 4-6) (I did the quote wrong). Nowadays, most
parents prefers taking their children to private colleges, so the
opportunity to secure a job after graduation will be increased.
Maney uses pathos to enhance his appeal and thoughts about
college education. He suggests that employees are looking for
active people who show self-driven characteristics by engaging
in different activities in their lives. He further advises young
people that if they want to be successful, it is high time to
recognize the changes that are taking place in the economy. As
result, they can realize that the traditional paths may not
necessary lead to achievements (Maney pars. 14-17) (I did the
quote wrong). Thus, young people need to be smart and build
strong relationship with others, as well as equip themselves
with the necessary resources that will enable them to achieve
their targets in life. Moreover, young people need to be aware
of what is happening in the society at large to be in a position to
take well-calculated actions that will enable them achieve their
aims in life.
Truly, Maney presents very strong arguments about college
education that have changed with time. His views are justified
to some extent given the kind of people who are being hired by
various organization in the past view years. Thus, other than
just concentrating on education alone, young people need to
focus and view the revolution that is taking place in order to
realize the extra effort that they need to put if ever they are
going to become successful people in the near future. Truly the
arguments presented in this article acts as a mirror of what is
happening in society. Therefore, young people need to become
diversified people instead of depending only on education if
ever they are going to become successful in life.

(Points : 30) Alkhateeb 5 Muhannad Alkhateeb (MeMo) Craig Dolce Eng-1A 9 Apr 2014 The Existence of Pink Think Human beings by nature are influenced by many things. This is important because it gives people a certain identity. Likewise, women and young girls are also influenced by many factors. This forms the basis of “Pink Think,” an article which explores
  • 3. how the behavior of women is influenced by various factors in their surroundings. The phrase Pink Think means “a set of ideas and attitudes about what constitutes proper female behavior” (Peril 281). Pink Think still exists in today’s society. Pink Think exists in behavior because women assume a standard character to which they all aspire. Also, it exists in activities in order to promote the concept of femininity. Moreover, Pink Think exists in products because women consider it a form of fashion as well as in institutions, so they can appear attractive. The existence of all these factors shows that Pink Think still exists in today’s society. Pink Think is still thriving in today’s society. Women are still being viewed as silly, and they hardly receive the respect they deserve. Society has come a long way from what it once was. However, some attributes are still considered too masculine for women to hold. Women are suppressed on a daily basis. They are stereotyped as chatty, emotional, and weak. Even if they are given the same freedom as everyone else, emotionally they are discouraged and held back by the fear of being called “butch” if they know how to throw a punch, blow a whistle, or if they can climb a tree. One area where Pink Think is evident is in the job market or workforce. Women hold onto the myths that some jobs are meant for men, and there are few opportunities available for them in the job market. Many people still tend to believe that women belong at home where they care for their family and attend to visitors from their social circle. Men are uncomfortable being of lower rank in the workplace than women. Women tend to be comfortable working as a secretary for a man but the case is different with a man working as a secretary for a woman, or a man being a nurse while the woman is the surgeon. It is somehow difficult even today for women to take on jobs as automotive engineers, welders, or as carpenters. They can legally work wherever they please, but women are still not free from enormous sexual harassment, a lack of respect from their
  • 4. co-workers, and even from some family members. Women are afraid to act in certain ways or to be too successful because they are afraid that men may be intimidated by them. This explains why women tend to be low risk takers and passive in nature. Education is another area where Pink Think can be identified, despite its role in trying to change this culture by providing women with the truth about their rights in society. Higher learning institutions tend to set pass marks or targets for women and girls to be lower than those set for their male counterparts. This shows that the education sector still believes that competition only exists among men, and that women are unskilled in some fields. For instance, most people believe that women are unskilled in mathematics, and any woman who scores highly in this subject is considered to have special genes that are not girl-like and receives much attention. Media shapes the society’s view of femininity. The media influences today’s society via messages through the television, radio, magazines, and billboards: “If the image is appearance- focused and sends a clear message about a woman’s body as an object, then it’s going to affect women” (Grabe, par 5). Women in advertisements are free of wrinkles, pimples, and scars. They are young, blonde, and thin. People could describe them to be perfect, and these advertisements have a huge influence on society. Advertisements use women as objects of beauty to attract consumers. This is done commonly in the automotive industry, where tall and thin ladies wearing high heels lean on cars. This is also done in television commercials that advertise hair and skin care products. They convince women that to be pretty they need to have perfect hair and a smooth skin without blemishes. They also convince women that if they don’t, then no one, particularly men, will look at them or take them seriously. They encourage the judgement of women, in the sense that women are only good based on their visual assets such as their face, breasts, and hips, not on their intelligence or skills. This is a perfect example of Pink Think.
  • 5. Women are also concerned about their beauty, body size, and shape. This is evident in terms of their efforts to look better each day by wearing nice outfits and changing their hairstyles as they seek to attract the attention of men. Many women participate in these actions: We women are strange creatures. We are so obsessed with beauty that we’re willing to go to great measures to amp up our physical attractiveness. Some things we do are completely harmless, like doing our hair, throwing on cute outfits, or practicing our own perfect smile. As for other things we do in the name of beauty, well, most of them are completely nuts… yet totally common. (Brayer, par 1) Even older women are told they must use certain products in order to look younger as if looking one’s age is morally wrong. Women’s constant worry about looks and age is also another example of Pink Think. For instance, it is considered wrong to ask a woman her age, but this is not the case with asking men their age. Many women tend to lie about their age more, and this is more common in those who are unmarried. This is due to the myth that men will always go for young attractive women as compared to aged women even if they are pretty. Another major area in which Pink Think stereotypes have been evaluated and analyzed is sports and physical activities. Women are considered to be soft and delicate. This expectation of femininity has often resulted in women being discouraged from sweating, carrying weights, being aggressive, participating, and competing in sports and physical activities. The main reason for this is due to the fact that society encourages women to be “ladylike,” and not to demonstrate characteristics that are considered masculine. However, when women go beyond the line and show those masculine traits, people start to question their gender identity, sexual orientation, social roles, and values. Dude think is another stereotype that is prevalent in today’s society. Boys are encouraged to take up a manly sport such as football, basketball, or cricket as they grow up. Men tend to
  • 6. believe that they are not supposed to lose to women at sports since they are expected to be faster, stronger, and better with directions than any female. Men are also expected to be the head of the household when they get married. Therefore, dude think has the power to define the behavior of men. Pink Think is still part of our everyday life, and it definitely possesses the power to define women’s behavior. Pink Think exists because women are motivated to meet certain standards. It also exists in certain activities which spread ideas about femininity. Additionally, Pink Think exists in products which many women are encouraged to purchase. Finally, the idea of Pink Think is present in many institutions in today’s society. Pink Think does not exist in the same way it did in the past decades, as it has evolved over time. Still, it is a concept which continues to exist in today’s society. “Pink Think” is still part of our everyday life and it definitely possesses the power to define women’s behavior. It is evident that society for some unknown reasons is incapable of rising above it. We can see that magazines, advertisements, movies and jobs are still stereotyping women. I strongly believe that women should have equal job opportunities as men in the job market and that education is the only way through which we can erase this “Pink Think.” Women should maintain their bodies and faces in a healthy and natural manner if they want to look young and beautiful in their golden days. Some of the ways to achieve this can be by eating a well-balanced diet and exercising instead of using chemicals to change their appearance. Notes: Please re read the essays and go over it and make perfect. Make sure I did the quote correct if not you have the ability to change for better. I have 2-conclusion paragraph choose which one is better or contact them together. Make sure it is full 4 pages essays Make sure from the work cited is correct and in good format

Alkhateeb 4 Muhannad Alkhateeb (MeMo) Craig Dolce Eng-1A 7 May 2014 Evaluation essay on Wikipedia resource entitled Racial Inequality in the United States It is a fact that there are no way all people in the society can actually be the same. This is due to the undeniable truth that people are actually brought up in different circumstances and from different backgrounds. While, these are facts, it is important to mention that they don’t justify in whatsoever way the existence of racial inequality in the United States. A lot of theories and literature has been written down all explaining the issue of racial inequality in the US. One of the important publications on the issue of racial inequality is a publication in
  • 8. Wikipedia entitled, “Racial Inequality in the United States”. This Wikipedia entry affirms the reliability of the Wikipedia entry in reference to its Logos, Ethos and Pathos. ( I think I did the background ok, but after that I did the theses and the map which I am going to talk about wrong. The thesis must answer is the Wikipedia reliable or not, then put the map the idea you are going to talk about) The “Wikipedia” entry for Wikipedia actually has used ethos to demonstrate the authority and credibility of authors. This is evident given the fact that different editors and contributors can easily track any form of changes as well as give their ideas on a given article. It has also been mentioned that readers can edit any Wikipedia resource without any permission. This idea has also been supported by the fact that the Wikipedia entry for Wikipedia mentions that articles in Wikipedia are not considered to be owned by the creators (“Wikipedia” sec. 1). However for any edit to be considered as credible, then it must not include the insertion of obscenities and crude humor. Moreover, it is important that edits should not include advertising language or any form of spam, otherwise, it will be considered to be a form of vandalism (“Wikipedia” sec. 3). The motive of the Wikipedia entry for Wikipedia is to demonstrate that all Wikipedia resources are open to individuals, and readers can make changes. However, they must be responsible when making such changes. (The second paragraph after the introduction paragraph you have to write paragraph include Authority from editing policy, credibility from vandalism policy, and motives “free”, org, easy etc. this information you have to make quote from the Wikipedia Wikipedia article. I did wrong I did not do the quote editing and for vandalism correct. Please correct to me) The author of the Wikipedia resource has used ethos to demonstrate that there is indeed existence of racial inequality in the USA. This is well evidenced given the nature of resources that the author of this Wikipedia entry has used. In fact it is important to mention that the author has actually used a number
  • 9. of credible and trustworthy resources in presenting his/her ideas. Some of these resources include The Pew Research Center of 2009 that showed housing disparity among different races. The author has also used a study carried by Lusardi that also indicated different approaches to asset possession by different races. In addition, the author also used a study carried by Conley which indicated that wealth inequalities in the US results due to economic disadvantages of different groups. There are also a number of reliable resources that have been used by the author to explain the issues of racial inequality in the US. One of these resources includes Bowman’s study which showed the issue of wealth disparities in the USA arises because of the amount of wealth different races are able inherited from their parents (“Racial inequality in the United States” sec. 3.1). (Check the quote I think I did wrong). By implication this study suggest that if a person comes from a rich family, then a person will definitely continue being rich. However, other contributory factors on inheritance include the number of children in the family as well as the amount to be inherited. A good example is a scenario where the amount to be inherited is small while the number of children is high. The Wikipedia resource has used Logos in explaining the existence of racial inequality in the USA. The author of the Wikipedia resources introduces the topic and writes that there is a range of societal issues that affects the lives of many people in disproportional manner (“Racial inequality in the United States” sec. 1) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). In this case, the author explains in details the manner through which racial inequality manifests itself in the USA. The author mentions that racial inequality can be clearly seen from looking at the wealth owned by different races that in this case are Whites, Hispanic population, Asians as well as African – American populations (“Racial inequality in the United States” sec. 3.2) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). In this case, he notes that the wealth owned in terms of different races differs from one race to another. This gives the justification of
  • 10. existence of racial inequality in the US. To further proof his/her point, the author also considers the amount of inheritance that different races are likely to inherit from their parents. In consideration of inheritance, this also gives a clear indication that indeed racial inequality exists in the USA. The author for the Wikipedia resource on racial inequality in the USA has also used pathos in presenting his/her ideas. There are a number of instances throughout the resource where the author has actually used emotions or rather appeals to express his views on the issue. One instance include where the author says that the wealth gap between different races has tripled with time (“Racial inequality in the United States” sec. 3.1) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). In this case, the author aims at demonstrating that indeed the problem of racial disparity and inequality that has been in existence in the USA, still exist and there is need to come up with better solutions or rather ways of dealing with the issue. Another instance where the author has used emotional appeals is when talking about the number of prisoners who are jailed. According to the author, most prisoners are non-white. The major reason being that they are neither in a position of receiving the services of better lawyers nor able to afford the amount required for bail application (“Racial inequality in the United States” secs. 3.3-3.5) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). This implies that individuals who have sufficient money or rather who are affluent in the society can actually escape punishment while the poor consist of a big percentage of prisoners in the USA. There are other instances in the Wikipedia resource where the author has also used emotions appeals such as when most non-white residents in the USA fear investing in risky assets and end up earning very little as opposed to the white who invest in risky assets. The major reason stated in the article for non-white fearing to invest in risky projects is actually a lack of knowledge (“Racial inequality in the United States” sec. 3) (Check the quote I think I did wrong). This is discouraging and surely something need to be done so that they can also get the necessary and helpful
  • 11. required skills to invest in different projects. Racial inequality still exists in the USA. This is evident given the facts and statistic information that has been published in the Wikipedia resource. The article has demonstrated that there is a lot of inequality ranging from different areas in the USA. This is evident given the consistence and clarity of information and facts as presented in the Wikipedia resource. Moreover, the article can be termed, as being credible and trustworthy given that, there are very nice articles that were referred to prior to its preparations. ( this sentence is wrong) On top of that, the author uses various appeals aiming at showing the impact of racial inequality in the entire USA population. Regardless of how bad the situation on racial inequality is in the USA, I strongly belief that with the concept of globalization, people will one day start appreciating and helping one another, thereby enhancing equality in society. (Make sure from the conclusion paragraph that answer the Wikipedia is reliable or not and it restate the point and has the opinion) Note: make sure when I put word Wikipedia in Italic or in quotation mark Works Cited "Racial inequality in the United States." • 12. Alkhateeb 1 Muhannad Alkhateeb (MeMo) Craig Dolce Eng-1A 7 May 2014 The Importance of Education Education has been considered and termed as a necessary condition in our lives. In consequence, many parents have tried in all ways possible to educate their children. This has prompted Dave Maney’s who is also a parent to give his views regarding to education in terms of the money and time spent studying and the value attained thereafter. His views are published in the article, “Is College a Sucker Bet”. The article is effective as it gives a clear and vivid explanation as to how attending college is meaningless. This is evident from the article given that education does not reflect an individual’s capability of taking or rather performing a certain work. Therefore, even though college education plays an important role in our lives, young people need to restart focusing their lives beyond the college degree. Maney’s ethos of writing this article was that it is high time young people around the country to start focus about their lives beyond an educational set up. ( this sentence not correct)Even if education is important, things are not the same as they were in the past. A good example is the amount of funds that is spent in college as compared to the amount an individual is expected to earn after college. Maney’argues that most higher learning institution are in for business rather than conveying informative knowledge to the young people that can actually help them in their lives. In justifying his claim, he gives an example where graduates from different colleges are treated differently not because of their qualifications but rather because of the name of the institution (Maney pars. 8-11) (I did the quote wrong). Thus, in this case, students from well-known colleges can secure employments faster as compared to those from minor colleges. Maney uses logos to defend his arguments that colleges are a
