MAJORITY OF STUDENTS FROM LOCAL AREA – UNDERSTANDING OF
ARCHITECTURE IS DIFFERENT THAN THOSE WHO LIVE FAR AWAY
AGE OF STUDENTS
STUDENTS THESE AGES ARE NOT EXPOSED TO POLITICS FULLY
AND ARE STILL DEVELOPING UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD

5. Hypothesis of answers
III: Majority of the students grew up in flats.
They feel that the social interaction between
different races residents gives them sense of
warmness and safety. Hence, they are familiar
with the privacy and security of the flats.
II: Most students think the Malay house
is lacking of privacy and safety due to
the openness and the materiality of the
building which is timber.
I: A handful of students think the
security and safety of the house is tight
because of the security guards.
Conclusion: Most students feel that expensive
houses and high rise buildings provide the best
privacy and safety.
5. From question 4, which building provides you the most privacy and

I: There is a kuil located near to the
school and the students' homes.
I, III, IV: Malaysia is a diverse
populated country. Hence, most
students celebrate with their
family in their respective religious
places.
II: No students think that the city is
an ideal place to celebrate
religious festivals but National
festivals like National Day and
Malaysia Day is acceptable as the
city represent a nation.
Conclusion: During festive seasons, students don't go
to the city to celebrate. They go to their hometowns to
celebrate and is closer to their religious buildings like
Mosque, Chinese temple and Indian temple.

Agree: Students know the term
"UMNO" in their history
textbooks.
Disagree: Some students are still
not familiar with the buildings in
Malaysia.
Conclusion: The idea of UMNO means unity
and this building represents a strong political
ambience. Students believe that this term
represents unity in political aspects as well.

8. CONCLUSION
1. Most students in SMK Bandar Sunway have a rough idea of architecture in Malaysia due to the diversity of
races in this country.
2. We proved this fact by the questions we asked and nearly all the different races of students could understand
and answer the given questions.
3. In Cultural, Political and Humanistic aspects, majority of the students of SMK Bandar Sunway have the same
opinions as they study together in the same school and their educational background is the same.
