3. Experiences Being an Architect
As an architect,
Encik Rosli takes full
responsibility in the
process of designing
buildings. An architect
should good in art,
technical issues, science,
mathematics, dealing
with people and present
ideas to people. In order
for people to accept your
ideas, you have to
present the ideas well.
An architect should also
have good observation
skills and have many
ideas. Encik Rosli always
tells his people to “go to
the site, look at it, feel it
and think of the right
thing to do. Besides, an
architect should always
consider the
environment and human
factors.
For him, being an
architect is like playing
football matches. For
example, before you play
with your opponents,
you have to study them
first. This means that
you have to study well
and understand what to
do before you start your
project. Hence, before
clients come to you, you
should be designing your
ideas already. You must
always practice and
preparebefore you face
problems.
4. Biggest challenge
Faced in His Career
The biggest ever and most successful project for Encik
Rosli is the Hospital Serdang in Sepang. He and his colleagues
used more than a year to finish this huge project and the budget
costs over RM700 million. He had never built a hospital before
and had no idea with it. Since he likes to try new idea and
constantly love doing different things, he accepted this project
willingly. He found lots of consultants and experienced architects
to help him. They taught him lots of skills and he learned the
right ways to accomplish this huge project. He often tells himself
to ‘work smart, don’t work hard’. He did not give up and work
persistently and finally his effort paid off. From this project, he
saw many different things and gained lots of knowledge on how
to build a hospital. Therefore, Encik Rosli said “the basic
foundation to build a successful project is to get good
consultants.”
