To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to have this opportunity to provide a letter of recommendation for Homoud
Alruwaili (ISFP). I have come to know him well as one of my students in the Safety Management
Program at Indiana State University. The last class with me was SFTY 492: Professional Field
Practice Internship in Safety Management. This is an internship course in which students apply
classroom learning to hands-on experience in an industrial setting. Here is content from the
course syllabus.
Goal
The primary goal of the class is to provide an experiential personal growth environment for
students near graduation in the Safety Management program.
Learning Objectives
Recognize and evaluate potential safety and health hazards in industrial environments.
Apply standards relevant to specific safety and health hazards.
Develop and write a safety proposal to mitigate hazards using the hierarchy of hazard
control.
Appropriately address unsafe behaviors in the work place.
Recognize your strengths and describe howto develop them for career and personal
success.
Develop core professional competencies for your role as a safety professional.
Audit the written safety programs in place for compliance with the following standards to
assure full compliance: 1910.147 (hazardous energy), 1910.146 (confined spaces),
1910.178 (industrial trucks), 1910.1200 (hazard communication),1910.303 (general
electric), 1910 Subpart O (machinery).
Develop written safety and health programs.
Develop and deliver safety training programs.
Homoud distinguished himself in this course as my best student. He is obviously committed to
his career development and enthused about the safety profession. He is intelligent and
resourceful. His work was clearly superior.
Another course that he took with me is a capstone course which is designed to help students
successfully transition from college to career. It is SFTY 416: Administration of Industrial
2. Health & Safety Programs. This course provides a career development component and a
component that teaches students how to develop safety and health management systems that
achieves excellent safety performance in organizations. In this course, Homoud completed an
extensive career assessment provided by Indiana State University called MyPlan which provides
an in-depth look into an individual’s personality, interests, skills, and values. From that
assessment I can attest that Homoud wants to feel personally engaged with his work, and seeks
careers which allow him to express himself or participate in a cause he believes in. In his case,
that is obviously safety management. Homoud typically enjoys hands-on activities, and often
gains satisfaction when he can create a tangible result from his efforts. He achieves this through
the following strengths.
Keen awareness of his environment
Faithful and loyal to people and ideas that are important to him
Trusting, sensitive, and kind
Service-oriented; he is driven to help others
Likely to be original and unconventional
I have gained a lot of respect for Homoud and I can highly recommend him for a career in Safety
Management with your organization.
Sincerely,
MichaelG.Williamson
