The Columbus Dispatch reported on Friday April 28, 2017 that the city council voted to approve a new zoning ordinance to allow for more mixed-use developments in downtown Columbus. The new ordinance will permit residential units to be built above retail stores and restaurants in hopes of attracting more residents to live downtown. Supporters believe the changes will help continue revitalizing Columbus' urban core while critics worry it could disrupt existing neighborhoods.
