FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Esperanza Announces Contribution from
AT&T for Mentoring Program
CLEVELAND, Ohio, December 16, 2015 – Esperanza has been selected by AT&T to
receive a $7,000 contribution to support their high school mentoring program.
Esperanza’s mentoring program has impact, as evidenced with increase of GPAs,
creation and implementation of vision statements, and increased presence of healthy
behaviors.
Esperanza’s mentoring provides the opportunity for students to connect with same-
gender adult role models in a structured group format. Students/mentors meet twice
monthly for friendship through workshops, discussions, social events, or field trips. The
mentors diverse backgrounds provide students with valuable networking opportunities.
Students have participated in special field trips to notable places around town and form
friendships and support networks to last a lifetime.
“AT&T’s generous contribution will support Esperanza’s Mentoring Program so that
every student in our area can work to graduate high school, complete college or a
vocational school and become strong, successful members of our society,” said Victor
Ruiz, Executive Director, Esperanza.
“I’m encouraged by the great work of this program and its students, as well as the
support AT&T has provided,” said State Representative Bill Patmon. “Workforce
preparation efforts like these are so important to keep our communities vibrant. I hope
other organizations are able to do as AT&T has and offer additional help Esperanza.
“AT&T is thrilled to partner with Esperanza to focus on success in the classroom,” said
Mylayna Albright, Vice President, External Affairs, AT&T. “We believe that equipping
