One day Goldie the goldfish made the long journey from the pet store to his new home.
When he arrived at his new home and was placed in his fish bowl, he discovered that there was
another fish bowl sitting next to his. In the other fish bowl were four other goldfish who were
swimming and having the time of their lives. They had also noticed Goldie had arrived and was
living in a separate fish bowl, and they did not understand why.
A few days went by and the four goldfish had continued on with their lives, but felt bad
for Goldie. Goldie had become very lonely and sad. He did not have anyone to swim and play
with. The other knew that Goldie was sad and invited him to come to their fish bowl, not
knowing that he could not penetrate the glass and just swim over. Goldie became very excited by
the offer and became determined to find a way to get into his new friends’ fish bowl.
Goldie thought for a minute, knowing that he could not just swim through the glass bowl.
Then after several minutes of thinking he remembered stories of the amazing flying fish that he
had heard from the other fish at the pet store. The stories had always fascinated Goldie and he
dreamed of being able to one day be a flying fish. He realized that this was his time to live his
dream.
The future flying fish swam a few laps around his bowl to build up enough speed to be
able to jump out the water and into the other fish bowl. When Goldie had enough speed he swam
to the surface of the water and with all of his might jumped into the air towards the other bowl as
water sloshed out of his fish bowl. After a few seconds in the air, Goldie, with eyes set on his
target, dove head first into the fish bowl with his four new friends. Goldie was happy again. He
was swimming and having fun with his new friends.
Goldie’s owner was in shock when they came home to find that he was missing from his
fish bowl. However, they soon learned from the water around the fish bowls that Goldie was in
the fish bowl with the other four goldfish. The owner of the five goldfish did not know how this
had happened, but noticed that all of the goldfish seemed happy and let them be. Even though it
was short lived, Goldie got to live his dream of being a flying fish and was now the happiest
goldfish in the world.
