2. This setting is from the scene Taken
2 and it shows the audience that it
is taking place on the roof. It also
shows that a chase is taking place
because you can see someone
chasing after someone. In the
exterior of the background it looks
all industrial but in fact the movie is
located in Turkey. This can be pretty
obvious because in the background
you can see minarets and domes
which can connote it is an Islamic
country. Also on the roof which
they’re running on you can see
right at the front broken roof tiles
which can connote to the audience
that it’s not a rich country.
3. In these two scenes the key props in these
two stills are the mobile phones they are
holding up by their ear. Mobile phones are
key in almost every movie because it is
symbol which connotes communication
with each other. Also when characters
make a phone call in a movie which in this
case is a tense movie you can tell by their
facial expressions what kind of phone call
has been made so the mobile phone is
effective. One downfall of this scene is the
lack of props because the only prop in the
scene is the mobile phone so the audience
may not think this scene is effective
enough.
4. The lighting and color has the
most influence on the look of
the scene. In this image it
connotes a gloomy background
and you can see mostly the
colors which are black, grey and
a darkish yellow. The colors
which I have listed all represent
that the location is mysterious
and dark. To the audience it
would represent as a place the
family in the movie went to is
not ideal.
5. Costume, hair and make up
act as an instant indicator to
the audience of where a
character is from. The
character has scruffy hair
which could connote to the
audience that he is stressed.
Also the black leather jacket
he is wearing connotes to the
audience that he isn’t to be
missed with.
6. Facial expressions provide a
clear indicator of how someone
is feeling. Body language can
also be an indicator of how
someone is feeling as well as
their relationships with others.
In this scene he is showing a
sign of happiness which
connotes to the audience he is
happy and is in a good mood.
His body language is good
because he has his hands
around his partner which
connotes they are a happy
couple.
7. Positioning within a frame
can draw the audiences
attention to a character or
object which is integral to
the narrative at that point.
This scene kind of puts you
on the edge but you can see
she is positioned on the edge
of the terrace which
connotes to the audience
she is being followed by
people and in the central you
can see the whole of Turkey.
8. In this scene which is the
matrix you can clearly
see the green screen in
the background which is
clearly useful and also
you can see the strings
which are holding them
up for the phenomenal
fight scene.
