Jasmine enjoys reading urban novels, writing short essays, and volunteering at a daycare center and sports organization where she helped with various tasks. She identifies a lack of community resources for children as a major issue, and feels that more after-school programs and study spaces could help keep youth out of trouble. Jasmine joined the i.c.stars program to step outside her comfort zone, gain technology skills, and make positive changes in her life through networking opportunities she previously lacked.

it allows me to take focused off of what going on around
me at the time, and express what's on my mind on paper.

New Beginning Daycare~ I was responsible
for Interacting with the children, I helped
assist with feeding, playing, reading, etc. I
also held the title of an receptionist, I
worked with children ages 2~4.
Riddell Sports~ I was responsible for faxing,
shipping and handling, and delivering mail to
staff. I also held the title of receptionist at
Riddell Sports.

A major issue in my community that stands out the
most to me would have to be, Lack of resource’s
There aren’t enough community centers, and after
school programs.
There is no where for children to study or even go to
complete homework assignments.
I feel as though if there was more positive places for
teenagers to go, and focus on schooling they would
most likely stay out of trouble.

I decided to be apart of i.c.stars because I wanted to make a
change in my life. For as long as I could remember I ‘ve always
been an antisocial person, why? I don’t know, but I’ve never been
a good networker. When I heard of i.c.stars, and the amazing
opportunity they provide for others, I immediately fall in love with
the thought of becoming apart of their organization. I saw i.c.
stars as an opportunity for me to step outside of my comfort zone,
as well as a chance to fully educate myself on something I always
saw so fascinating. As a child I always found excitement in
technology, and wondered what the process could be to make it
function, now with the help of i.c.stars I’ll learn the process of
technology plus more. I feel truly blessed to be apart of something
so amazing, as well as life changing. I.c.stars allows my mind to go
places I’ve never thought of before, and for that I truly believe I’ll
forever be seeing STARS...
