Marketing Conferences and Events to Prepare for in 2015
1. Marketing Conferences and Events to Prepare for in 2015
It's important to continue your education and network at different events in your industry to keep
your business growing, and the marketing industry is full of opportunities. Many of the major
conferences and training workshops are publicized each year, but there are also quite a few less
popular conferences that are gaining popularity and might be a great option for your business in
2015. Many of the conferences offer early bird rates, so the sooner you can setup the conferences
you want to attend for the whole year and who you want to represent your business, the more money
you'll save.
ClickZ Live
Dates: Ranging from March 24-Nov 19, 2015.
Cost: $995 half day training, $1,495 full day training, $1,695 Platinum Pass, $2,295 All Access Pass.
Early bird rates are available and they may vary by location.
Location: In order of when they happen: Jakarta, Miami, New York, Toronto, Atlanta, Hong Kong,
San Francisco, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Chicago, Denver, London.
This event is held multiple times per year all around the world, so you have a pretty good chance
that they're coming to a town near you. Just like Pubcon, this conference features big names in the
industry and puts a focus on a wide variety of topics--content marketing, social media, building an
audience, marketing to a certain group, etc. This is one I have attended in the past and I highly
recommend it. A few influencers speaking this year include Tim Goudie, Director of Social Media at
Coca-Cola, and Leigh Heyman, Director of New Media Technologies at The White House.
Pubcon
Dates: April 20, 2015 and October 5-9, 2015.
Cost: $349 for Austin, $349-$4,999 for Las Vegas.
Location: In order of the dates: Austin, Texas; Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas NV.
This annual conference always hosts some of the biggest names in the marketing industry, including
members from Google and Bing, and puts a focus on technology and online marketing. It's a little bit
on the expensive side, but you can be sure that those who are attending are powerful and really now
their stuff. Last year, 180 industry leaders spoke at the conference with more than 130 sessions.
This year they plan to set a record with 5 keynote speakers. It is worth mentioning that the
conference in Las Vegas is much larger than the smaller conference held in Austin, so it might be
worth the trip.
Search Marketing Expo (SMX)
Dates: March-Nov, 2015 depending on location.
Cost: $50-$2,895 depending on your package. Team rates and early bird rates apply.
2. Location: In order of dates happening: Munich, London, Sydney, Seattle, Paris, New York City,
Jerusalem, Milan, Las Vegas.
This is another conference much like ClickZ Live in the sense that it is held multiple times per year
in locations around the world. This event is hosted by Search Engine Land and is considered the top
conference for marketers looking to improve their online strategy. It puts a focus on search and
SEO, but there are always a good variety of speakers and sessions to attend including Ehren Reilly
of Glassdoor and Laura Ann Mitchell, Digital Marketing Strategist at Intel.
Smaller and Newly Announced Marketing Conferences
SEJSummit
Dates: March 31, April 15, May 12, 2015, and then tentative dates in July, September, and
November.
Cost: Free to invited attendees (click the link to request an invite).
Location: In order of the dates above: Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL; London, England; Silicon Valley, CA;
New York, NY; Miami, FL.
This is a new conference just announced this year put on by Searchmetrics. It is invitation only at
first, so I would recommend looking into the conference and asking for an invite. There are only 100
spots, which helps to keep the conference smaller and easier to manage. I attended this conference
just last month and loved the small-feel type setting with some big names such as Neil Patel and
Mindy Weinstein.
Training Workshops
SEO Classroom Training by Bruce Clay
Dates: May 11-13 for Standard Training and May 14-15 for Advanced Training.
Cost: Standard: $1,795. Cost for Advanced: $1,195.
Location: Simi Valley, CA.
Bruce Clay has been in the industry for over 20 years and has built one of the most successful
agencies and developed some of the most widely used SEO tools, so his classes have become a
popular choice for those who want more hands-on instruction. His classes include written work to
make sure you understand the information and are available for all levels of SEO experience.
Search Engine Academy
Dates: Sessions held approximately every two weeks from March 23-June 25, 2015.
Cost: Ranging from $1097 to $1497.
Locations: Tampa, FL; Prague; Dallas, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Vilnius; Toronto, Ontario; Montreal,
Quebec.
3. This is one of the top programs for those looking to learn more about search because teaching is the
main focus of the Academy. Workshops run from 2-5 days depending on the level of training you
want to receive--masters, advanced, essentials, corporate, mentoring, or free webinars. Unlike the
Bruce Clay class, the Search Engine Academy hosts these training workshops all around the US and
Canada as well as Lithuania and the Czech Republic, so you have a lot of options.
Of course, these are not the only search and online marketing conferences being held this year, so
visit this article for an even larger list. If you know of any great conferences happening this year or
have been to a great event in the past, let us know in the comment section below.
