Comparatives
• If you want to say that people, places, things etc, are not
  equal use comparative adjectives and adverbs
• ……. More/less + adjective /adverb           (- er than…..)
• Istanbul is more crowded than Izmir
• Izmir is warmer than Istanbul
• You sister is more beautiful than you.
• Your father drives more carefully than your mother.
• Diyarbakir is smaller than Istanbul.
• It is cheaper to live in a village than in a city.
• My grandmother is nicer than my upstairs neighbor
• Antalya is hotter than Samsun
• Cyprus closer to Turkey than the U.K.
Superlatives

• If you want to say one person or thing in a group is far
  more better/worse than the rest you use superlative
• Use the + superlative adj/adv (the - est/the
  most/least adj/adv)
• The most + adjective /adverb

•   You are the tallest person in the class.
•   Ayse is the laziest student in the class.
•   Diyarbakir is one of the hottest cities in Turkey.
•   My mother cooks the best meals in our family.
•   My boy friend drives the fastest car .
•   She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen
•   That is the best music I have listen to so far.
•   THY is the best airlines in the Middle East.

•   One syllable adjectives               •   Old      older       oldest
                                          •   Safe     safer       safest
                                          •   Young    younger     youngest
                                          •   Smart    smarter     smartest
                                          •   Clever   cleverer    cleverest
•   One syllable which ends in one
    vowel one consonant double the        •   Big      bigger      biggest

                                          •   Noisy    noisier     noisiest
•   Adjectives ending in – y drop y and   •   Dirty    dirtier     dirtiest
    and – ier
