1. Set the stage. Prepare for planning
2. Face the facts. Look at the current situation
   (through a SWOT analysis for example)
3. Establish the future, desired state. Determine
   where you want to go
4. Complete and implement the plan. Develop a
   plan to move in the desired direction and take
   action to make the plan work
5. Follow up, measure, and evaluate the results.
   Determine the success of the plan.
