4. IM a Chatterby: Nick An online chat is a place where people can talk to others online. Two problems you can face are meeting a cyber bully and/or may be exposed to inappropriate content. In a chat room, good ideas may be generated that usually wouldn’t be said in a classroom. In a chat room, there may be offensive activities and older people may try to meet the younger ones in public. If you experience inappropriate activities in a chat room, you must log off and tell an adult right away. It is acceptable to give out your country, first name and maybe your state. 5. Netiquette Ned Netiquette is the etiquette of cyberspace. The basic rule of netiquette is Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. Do not use bad or rude language and do not break laws Stay away from caps lock because IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING. If you are uncomfortable with a site or topic on the internet, you should exit the site and block it. A private message goes to one person, while a public can be read by anybody. A flame is a strongly held opinion. A flame war is a series of angry letters. To prevent flame wars, you shouldn’t respond to flames.
